Until you find someone who's a better friend, i'd stay clear of that other guy. Just like SHOGUN he's obviously just doing it for the cash, and not your friendship.

My going rate for working on friends' cars is a 12 pack and a pack of smokes. There's no need to be paying a friend as much as an actual garage would charge.

haha, that would probably piss the dude off just as much, just the thought of his sister with somebody.
definitely too high of a price, i help people with things just out of interests/love of vehicles. . . workin on a cute girls truck would just be a plus ;)

Sorry I didnt pay attention to the friend part. Yea a friend would of done that much cheaper for you if it is what he does for a living.
Lots of people seem to be ticked about the fact that I said that he should of been paid. I stand firm on the fact that he should of been paid. But like I said before, not $200.

It sounds like you guys are saying that he should of done it for free. Yet you keep referring to the word (friend). When friends do work for me, I pay them what it is worth.

A guy (spray) sealed my driveway for $200 last week and the day he did it, it rained and washed half of it away. So I called him up and told him it needed to be done again. He came the next day and did it and expected to go home empty handed even though he had to pay for the extra sealer. I gave him $100 cuz thats what an HONEST PERSON DOES. (And I didn't even know him)

I watched our President visit China the other day and not say one word about when we were going to pay him back. This country is soo full of greed it makes me sick (getting something for nothing, Do you think that just becouse Jesus died on the cross you are forgiven? Get a clue.)

In this economy, right now, FRIENDS NEED TO HELP FRIENDS. "HELP FRIENDS" Not just give them a drink.

And yes I am glad that the ones that said they are glad they arent my friends "arent".

WHEN THE WAR COMES INTO OUR COUNTRY I GUESS THEY WILL SAY WELL THESE ARE MY BULLETS BUT I WILL GIVE YOU A DRINK OR A MEAL IF YOU CLEAN MY GUN

 fuck me, anyone want to touch that one?

in any case, sorry about the overcharge, I'm sure you'll find someone that's willing to be legitimately generous to a pretty girl like you;)

Guess I am a (genius) "quote". What if he had replaced the hose and then it came loose and left her stranded. Or what if he replaced the hose and it turned out not to be the hose and one day later she was left with a blown up engine.

I dont know man, maybe Im the only one that thinks that you get what you pay for. Guess some people just have whats called (buyers remorse) you get something good, but then you regret paying for it. Im not refering to anyone, but just saying.

You get what you pay for. True. But "friends" don't come out to your house to help you out and charge you up the ass like that.

It'd be different if she went to a friend who worked at a shop and then gave her a discounted rate.

When I help a friend the only cost is the materials.

Oooor if he was a friend he would have just had her reimburse him for the parts and call it good.

I will help a friend without expecting anything in return. The friends I have understand that, yet will insist on some kind of payback. A dinner, a round of golf, something. And if I had to pay for materials, that's reimbursed.
Also, there's a big diff between a friend and someone you just know.

Im going to agree with everyone on here, That is no friend that i would want hanging around! Friends are there to help and be there for you when you really need it. I like the lunch idea, that sounds like a fair payment.

Yes, you got overcharged (even at shop rates). It is a simple job. Just consider this a payment for a lesson.
