To all those "never use 4x4 on dry pavement" guys.....I am sorry to say that off-roading your vehicle can be cause for denying warranty claims by Toyota.

So if this had happened off road, there is no guarantee Toyota would cover it.

    Sad, I know

Typically warranty covers manufacturers defects, not off road damage or wear. I am sure that if there is a claim against a defective part, you would be fine. That warranty is pretty much industry standard. No one covers a failure caused by MOAB.

Maybe they should change the models to dry pavement and wet pavement.

If you're smart about it they will cover it, dragging a muddy and bruised carcass into the dealer and claiming you don't know what happened it just blew up gives them ammo to claim abuse.

If people have common sense enough to wash their shit before they took it in, they'd have a better chance of getting it fixed.

The last thing a dealer wants on their rack is a muddy truck with a bunch of warranty work that a regional rep can see

That is a good, hot take.

An AWD setup would help most folks, eliminate most of the part time 4wd confusion, and not really dilute the brand as long as the real 4wds are readily available in the proper model mix.

When @jkish17 brought his truck to the shop that did the install, he commented that he had a bind in the drivetrain somewhere. With 90 wt pouring out of the transfer case, the shop said Hey WTF? jeepish17 told them he was shifting in and out of 4 wheel drive while running straight down the dry road. The they asked him why he wasn't doing this the dirt, he had no answer, and hence no post's on the case itself. Because he's paying for it himself.....

Or they put the wrong gears into one of the diff's, causing the carnage.....

I would love an AWD truck with 3 lockable LSDs. Or at least center and rear lockable and a nice, clutch type front

I wonder if OP is on a gag order. OP like this if you aren't allowed to comment, or if you are being held hostage.

I can’t confirm but it’s likely. If they offered it with an E-Locker and ATRAC that would be a mean machine.

no A-Trac but my wife’s GX has a center locker. I’ve taken it off-road and it’s no slouch.
