    :notsure:

These threads are fun and there are nuggets in them for folks who actually search?

I used to frequent a forum that would delete a lot of threads with no consistency or explanation. It was not a fun place to be.

I'm guessing it went something like this....place that did the work refused to make it right and refused to fix it, blamed it on something else. OP lawyered up and was told to avoid putting anything on social media (similar to lemon law cases). We'll never know...

I missed the conclusion to that saga. What was it? Clutch seemed to be the consensus.

    It's probably desti

I think it was all in his head,,,, he thinks he may have a sticking parking brake, but after highway travel it would go up in smoke if it was enough to make the truck feel sluggish, or wear to the point it no longer holds

Nope this just in, it was his dad's Tacoma and while dad was away on a business trip he decided to take it in with his Guitar Center salary and spice it up. Well dad came home and laid down a whopping that resulted in being grounded for six weeks and his VW Jetta taken away. Seeing how dad needs the Jetta to commute to work in Folsom, his interweb access has been revoked at home, and he can only check at school. Dad is super pissed and mom is bitching that they now have to have Lowes deliver six bags of potting soil since the Tacoma is dead in the driveway. In the meanwhile the HOA is bitching up a storm because the carcass is leaving a blood trail in the driveway from that fancy Toyota transfer case fluid.

The OP was telling the lasses at school the Tacoma was his, but he drove his sister's hand me down Jetta because he liked to save on fuel.

Update: So I have not read any of the 6 or 7 pages of comments since the tow truck picked up the truck and it's been in the shop, my bad. I'm extremely busy right now with paramedic school and the little extra time I do get, I spend not on the forums right now

Long story short: I have no idea what happened still, but the shop owner took care of everything and is a standup guy.

He (nor I) am sure why it happened. He's been doing this a long time and said it's extremely frustrating that he doesn't have an answer for me, because then he'd have some piece of mind for himself too. I wish I had a better answer for you guys but I don't. Unfortunately I was right about the transfer case and it was damaged in the incident. Sounds like when the front locked up it caused a hairline crack on top of the T-case, that's what I got out of it atleast. The shop owner put a brand new T-case in and front gears bearings etc. He drove it around 25 miles and tested 4 wheel drive and everything before giving it back to me. I picked the truck up yesterday and knock on wood it's driving fine.

He took care of everything in a timely manner and didn't try to pull anything shady or hassle me. To me, he is clearly a good shop owner and I would recommend them to anyone. In unfortunate circumstances like this, a shop can really shine or grime in my opinion. I feel like they took care of me the way a great shop would. As far as I can tell this was a freak accident and I doubt it will happen to many other (if any) tacoma's out there that get regeared. As to why, I still don't know.

Sounds like an instance of new gear failure daisy chaining up the drivetrain. Nitro gears in this case?
