Today I was under the mostly black 09 and found a large section of the frame rotted. The truck had the CRC coating before I bought it. I've owned it about a year now. Shortly after I bought it I ask the deal to inspect the frame they did and said it was fine.(I did not know about the Toyota frame problem until I bought it, never owned a Toyota before)
Is this still eligible for the frame replacement?

Depends when your truck entered service (as I thought it was 12 years for the cutoff window?), but regardless I'd be heading to the dealer ASAP to have them verify eligibility.

Side note, I'm finding it hard to believe the frame went from "fine" to that in the short amount of time.

Who applied the CRC and how was it done?

It actually doesn't surprise me that the frame went from looking ok to this condition. All the CRC coating does is create a layer for the rust to spread hidden underneath. In 2018 my 2007 Tacoma frame was replaced, I would take it into the dealer asap.

The dealer I bought the truck from. When I asked them about the frame they told me that the coating had been applied.

Interesting. I'd definitely see what they have to say. I'm not sure long it would be covered for but I'm assuming it was applied as part of the recall.

I believe the warranty is 12 year from date of first use.
Sign up for an account on Toyota’s website.
Enter your vin, and find out when it’s date of first use was.

You might get luck, as you have about 2 months left IF you are not already out of warranty.
Act NOW, don’t wait, call ASAP and set up an appointment if you are still within the warranty.

I would've seen the frame rust within the first DIY oil change of ownership. Not sure how this was missed a year later. Good luck and hope you qualify for a frame replacement.

This, but don't bring the truck. The dealer might impound due to rust/unsafe.

Hope OP gets his new frame under warranty :fingerscrossed:

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
Hey nastruck . . . i'd say the dealer lied to you. As it was a Toyota dealer get the records of the CRC having been applied and use that as your case for a new frame. Go back to the Toyota dealer you brought it from, and good luck.
    Keep us in the loop.

Live in Delaware, before me the truck lived in PA. There is a big difference between rush and rot!!!!

I got those yesterday the only thing I have not gotten is the date I ask to have the frame inspected. Still working on a folder. Hope to take it to the dealer laters this week
