Right but what I mean is that the CRC could have been applied as part of the recall a while before that. Their system would show it without them even looking at it or doing it.

I don't believe the dealership has the power to do that.

I went over for a frame check (slight rust) a few years back on a 2000 model & they did it to me :annoyed:

They refused to give it back & offered a 30 day rental (no vehicle was available that day). Paperwork was started already on a buyback & got a check pronto.

    Like, so many.
How can they legally just take your truck? What if you wanted it for parts?

Exactly!! The floor people argued with me because it was "unsafe" and not leaving the dealership.

At least I got more $ than I paid for. It was a nice truck :(

Buyback is completely different than impounding your vehicle because it is considered unsafe.

It didn't. At best, any topping applied was lipstick on a pig.

I'd bet it didn't look ok. Enought lipstick can hide chapped lips and cold sores.

Pretty accurate. I don't think Toyota is even using that product currently.

If you don't have it in writing.............. 'that guy is no longer with us' could be what you hear.

    THIS

Later this week is not good enough. The clock is ticking. Be at their door when they open. Tomorrow.

Your loved one has cancer. Are you really not going to alter your schedule to get them in for care?

Thats exactly what they did to me also on a 2000 that I took in for the frame inspection only because I had alot of 2 way radio equipment and antennas on it and after market items like the camper cover, side steps etc, they let me take it home to remove them and bring it straight back. They met me a few days later at the dealer with a check for one and a half times the average retail value in excellent condition regardless of the condition. It worked out good in the long run because the car fax showed it had been in a minor accident and had previous hail damage. Both of which had been repaired by a dealership. I would not have gotten the value on a trade in or private sale that the buy back got me.

My 08 had the CRC shit sucks!
I knew my bad spots and the rust got worse under the coating.
Dealer inspection isn’t ment to fail frames! Has to have a 10mm hole and they don’t poke at stuff to make it open up.
In service date is important here!
Maybe your dealer will work with you?
States that have inspection laws can stop you from driving it off the lot!
But it can be towed and they can not stop you.
Trade it back in to them maybe it will get missed and becomes their problem?
    Prices are stupid right now.

The OP is not going to get anywhere without bringing the truck. The dealer must inspect it.

wow thats a pretty bad one. Hope you get it through the warranty process. The dealer can not straight seize your vehicle. They can offer to buy it back or refuse to work on it due to it being unsafe.

Going to happen to ask of us coating or not. Coated 3 years ago guess they missed a couple spots.

That wasn't coated. If they claimed it was, it certainly wasn't with Toyota's undercoating because that stuff was akin to driveway sealer. The newer coating is relatively clear with a yellowish tinge.
