I ordered the part through my local Toyota dealer and picked it up today. When I got home, I swapped out the parts. It was much easier than I thought it would be and it works perfectly.

    Some pictures below.

    Tools needed:

    A phillips screwdriver (I used an 11 in 1)
Something to pry with (Again, I used an 11 in 1)
Something to pick with (I used a pick from good ol' Harbor Freight)

Look at that terrible wiper control.

    I removed this screw.

And this screw. That's it...two screws.

I used my screwdriver to pry the cover apart.

I removed the top and let the bottom dangle between my legs o_O. Moving the wheel up and down was needed for clearance.

    See, nothing much to it.

A quick little push with my screwdriver and the plugs disengaged.

A little pull on this clip with my pick while pulling the module to the right and it was out like a tooth.

The proper one snaps right in and the two plugs are attached. At this point, I tested the switch. It works!! Now in reverse order put everything back together.

Look at that, like it was made for the truck.

When I test drove my 2019 Tacoma, it was not raining. After a week of bliss driving it around and it started raining, I turned on the wipers and could not BELIEVE it did not have intermittent wipers! I mean WHO DOES THAT!?!?! Ok, my bad for not checking. I went to Gateway Toyota in Toms River NJ and they were apprehensive to sell it to me as they were not sure if it required "Programming"???? Was your install plug and play? Any idea if this modification voids my warranty? Thanks for the detailed instructions!

Really? Is this trim specific because my 2019 OR has the intermittent wiper stock.

About to do the same. Do you press down on the tab to release it?

Pull up on the tab. Not too much as it could break, just enough to release.

The only thing that would have made this job easier than following these steps is if
Shawn_of_the_dead came out and did the install...

    Thanks.

It's a shame there are only a couple of intermittent speeds.
I wonder if a different Toyota or Lexus stalk would have a more incremental speed adjustment.

Found.a used one on fleabay for 70ish and will be doing this shortly… I need a truck maintenance weekend as I have some stuff to do…..tailgate lock, this, undercarriage rustproofing (woolwax) etc…

pretty sure my SR has more stuff on it than an SR5 except the back seats…

Love the write up. My girlfriend needed this on her 2015 Tacoma.
I found the Intermittent Windshield Wiper Switch on eBay for $30.
She loves it and following your instructions made it so easy! I had never worked on a Toyota before, I own 2 4th Gen Ram trucks, but this made it so easy!
Thanks for the awesome write up!

Back up camera... standard. Air bags... standard... intermittent wipers... not so much? I had no idea. I'm glad mine came with the factory steering wheel.

Great write-up. It’s not something I need, mine came with this intermittent switch, but it’s always nice seeing people share all of this information that is helpful to many others. God bless.

I don’t think it is. My 2020 SR5 that I purchased new has it so maybe it’s package specific?
