The deep deep red is so enemies couldn't see you as well. Not because it's easier on the eyes.

I've liked the orange since day one... now the red I'm not so crazy about but there's so little red that it doesn't bother me much.

Having come from driving BMWs before my Tacoma, the Orange lights are something that I am very used to and makes me feel "at home". :)

Someone prob already said this, but that orange color for the dash affects your night vision the least. That is why BMW's have this same orange for so long. I am a pilot and the cockpits in the older planes use the same orange/redish backlighting for the same reason. They dont use it in the new jets though because all the PFD's and MFD's use multi color for symbols.

They did grow on me... kinda like a tumor though. So I removed them, somewhat similar to a surgical procedure with the medical tweezers and all. My Cts-V had the led white with red needles and driving the Tacoma and the V back to back I did not notice much of a difference in night driving. I am not saying there isn't a difference, just that it's not super distracting like I have heard people say before. The Tacoma now has the same white setup that the V had and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

What do you fly and do you fly with Night Vision Goggles? What color are the lights on your night system if you use one?

I just don't care. Maybe I'm just old or something but it just doesn't matter to me. They work, that's good enough for me.

I'm planning on swapping out to either blue or white.

Has anyone changed the climate control colors successfully?

Find a blog by "Preseth" (not sure what his entire title is and PM him. He is an electrical engineer (I think) and can answer any questions you might have on your dash lights!

See that's my issue with a led/color swap..... The hvac. If I can't change that relatively easy then it defeats the point to me

i 100% agree with you. id consider changing my lights but if im gonna have white dash lights but orange climate control lights its going to look stupid IMO. so it does defeat the point!
