Did the u-joints really lack factory lube? Probably never.

    That's not what I'm suggesting.

I'm suggesting that Dana and Toyota work together to provide bulk ujoints that are filled or whatever and ready to go. And then there is a different kind of ujoints that end up on the shelf at the parts store.

Toyota is famous for it's supply chain management, if they're screwing it up as badly as suggested, I would be amazed.

Someone said nipple. So I should definately stop worrying about my non-zerked u-joints burning up. Man, what a relief! :D :deadhorse:
Some people think if it aint got grease slinging out of it, it must be dry. Preach the word sir.

The black stuff, that all people report purging from their factory U-Joints is proof of the factory lube, but whatever.......I know it’s a losing battle.

Yes, that something is purging doesn't mean that it's properly greased. Why did you start this thread again?

I'm surprised they even have zerks. My Nissan didn't. It has ~150k on it and I haven't had to touch the ujoints.

I don’t understand your thinking or your point. The black grease is put in the cups before they are assembled. It takes some additional grease through the fitting to purge the air and fill all the voids.........

    or........

you are right and Toyota is fucking everyone to save a pinch of grease.....likely!!

There's the Spicer "Life-Series" (no zerk fittings/more seals and greased for the life of the joint) and the "10 series" (has a fitting and only one set of seals).

I thought the problem was with Toyota service department not lubing the propeller shaft at the appropriate intervals, not that the ujoints came dry off the lot...

I didn't say that Toyota is fucking everyone; every large organization has made mistakes. If there is air present then the joint is not sufficiently lubed.
