Did the u-joints really lack factory lube? Probably never.

All the grease would be distributed within the bearing cups due to centrifugal forces. There's your air-purge.

The joint is not fully greased if there is air in the joint. Spinning it would not remove the air and add grease.

I'll have you know that I have a Toyota Engineering degree from Tacoma World University, taught by @NunyaBizness himself. So this is true

Grease is heavier than air. Physics dictates that the grease will move to the furthest point from the rotation axis. That would be the bearing cup where its needed.

That still doesn't fill all cavities with grease.

You forgot a crucial detail in your analysis - feelings. We are, after all, in an era of feelings superseding facts.

That said, I feel that you and this thread are fantastic ♡

OK. You win. You want grease just sitting in the cross of your u-joints where it does nothing. All you need is grease in the bearing cup. Sure, occasionally there may be a Spicer u-joint manufactured short on that sweet grease. I would worry about something else personally. But you do you my friend.

The bearings in the caps are greased, the cross assembly is dry, the first time you grease the u-joint you're filling the channels in the cross assembly
