so this is a first for me.... doing a computers update on any sort of vehicle ... maybe im too old school... i was afraind I was gonna brick my truck sitting in the driveway ....no tools were out no beer or other alcohol present.... during the process I was asking myself what story would I come up with for destroying my truck with no visible damage?

I don't think that updates the ECU so no bricking the ECU could occur.
That's just updating the head unit.

    Exactly.
So what did this update do for your truck's head unit?
    Inquiring minds need to know.

I did the update a couple days ago. It took about 2 minutes to put onto a thumb drive from the computer. The update itself in the truck took less than 10 min., I’m not sure why the times were so different for me and the OP.

For everyone asking, I have not noticed any differences since installing the update. The Toyota website said the update was published in Feb. 2022 (for my radio model) so it really isn’t very new. I don’t go to the dealership so I’ve never had an update done so it was “new” for me.

When I first got my truck there were a few updates available. Not sure if they came in over the phone app or whatever but I'd get in, start the truck and it would tell me there was a software update and if I wanted to apply it. I thought it was cool at first because there was a new icon - I forget which one it was. There have been a few updates since but each time they removed functionality so afraid to apply more updates even though I don't use much of its features.

It would be nice if they told what the updates were so you could decide if you wanted to apply the updates.
