Did they change the OEM tires?

Yep. These are the tires that came on my 2020 OR. 22k miles and they look fine. Maybe halfway gone? Great road manners and very quiet. My only complaint is I wish they looked a tad more aggressive on the sides, which is what the redesign addressed. If mine last close to 50k, the new Territory AT is probably what I’m going to replace them with.

I had those in P-rated on my Tacoma they seemed like a good all seaon tire and did well in light snow accumulation of 2"-3".

I put a set of these on a customers Nissan Xterra and they were horrible. Three of them needed over 5 ounces of weight and the uniformity was horrible, wobbles and egg shaped on the balancer. Two of them had almost 40 pounds of road force variation. The truck vibrated so bad the customer was complaining. I got two more from my tire supplier (to replace the two worst) and it made little difference. I ended up taking them all off and put on some Cooper AT3's, and the the truck rode beautiful.

Goodyear is a crap shoot in terms of uniformity. I might add they were not the "kevlar" versions but I've been working on cars all my life and Goodyear has always been a headache for me. I have had less ride disturbance problems with some of the chinesuim brands.

I have the OEM GYR Wrangler Territory AT 265x70R16 AT on my OR. Mostly road for now. I am pretty happy with them because they run well in dry and in heavy rain. However, they are pretty loud and produce a howling sound on some freeways. Got 10K mi on them now, no sign of uneven or normal wear.

Had the GYR tire on my 2019 Tacoma OR -47K mi and still good wear. Happy that time with the old tire style also. Good in dry, awesome in rain.

Ran a nail into one tire the other day. Not sure what Toyota is thinking by equipping the Tacoma TRD OR (actually a pretty common vehicle nowadays) with these tires and the dealerships I called didn’t have them in stock! Asked several dealerships in 60mi radius-wanted me to wait min. one day - not good if you are traveling. Tire plus mounting $300+! No service appointments available same day. Got it at the tire shop for $250, ordered in the morning and had it on the car at noon.

That would be the only reason for me to change the tire type - availability and pricing. But only if the new brand would be as good as the GYR tire, especially in rain.

Won’t hear any arguments from me. A concern I have now, is what may happen to Cooper quality since they were bought by Goodyear a year or two ago.
