Did you do extra payments. Who finally owns their Tacoma?

Bought my truck new in 1997. Paid it off 18 years ago, Nice to have no car payments each month and bank the extra money.
I don’t think my trucks value has changed in 10 years regardless of how many miles I put on the truck and don’t think Toyota excepted their trucks to
run over 600,000 either.
Will be interesting to see how the newer Tacoma fair over time.

Paid it off 4 year after 1997, so 2001 paid off,

 

I put up th money from my f250 platinum and which was ony like half, and then $599 a month. By the time I knew it I got a "You paid more than you should have, heres a check for that amount you paid" and now here I am owning it, well my business owns it.

That was sooo many years ago that it was paid off

 

well hopefully you didn't have to bust your rear with the overtime back then like i had to
those 75hr 5days a week out of town jobs sure took its toll back then

 

Back then I put 5k down about 1/3 and had a small payment so was not bad

my truck was probably quite a bit more out the door because of all the dealer add-ons I had done then
the only 'freebee' I recall getting was a nice Toyota leather keychain and possibly that Toyota hoodprotector

i sorta recall trying to push them into giving me the plastic bedliner for doing business with them but it was a no-go, I need to find out how much the liner cost me again back then and see how it compares to this pending LineX job

all i know is the LineX is 1/4 the cost of a re-paint on the entire back half

 

The entire speciality car market is in a huge bubble right now. There once was a time one could buy a nice E30 M3 for just around $20k and now I see prices that are $50k plus. It's a great car, but it's not $50k plus great. The air cooled Porsche market is the same, by the time I started making a good salary and had free money the prices went through the roof. So I move down and start looking at true survivor mk1 mini cooper s yup even those are now stupid money.

Yep and car loans are at a record high. Record high debt will be the reason for the next recession / hit.

 

Yet the solution they're clamoring for is lower rates. If a recession materializes with rates already this low it's safe to say it will not end well. It might even make the great recession of 2008 look like a joke

 

ya that was pretty much a joke! ... it was more or less orchestrated by the cabal
I vaguely remember the last REAL recession back in the early '80s with my Dad's constant bitchin and moaning about the state of things

that 2oo8-2oo9 hiccup was nothing compared to the late '70s early 80s

just don't keep any 'money' you don't need in cash or bonds (or equivalents thereof) and you will be 'safe' if the REAL monster enters the room

Late to the question, didn’t read the first 12 pages... so please excuse if this has been explained prior:

Early loan pay down should be based on the interest rate of the loan. If you have a promotion low interest rate (those 0% to 2% types), then you most likely paid the loan interest upfront in the purchase price of the vehicle. Ever notice how there is usually a choice between cash back or a low interest rate... yes I’m sure you have, so the cash back is the prepaid interest value. If that is the case for your loan, then do not pay down the loan early, rather save that extra payment for other investments or as a bigger down payment for your next vehicle.

If you have a high interest rate, then pay down the loan early (make sure the lender is applying to principal)... this is true on all credit. Pay down the highest interest rate loans first.

 

I just need it too hold off for 18 months so I can get through this 2nd degree nursing program, lol, might end up kicking myself for getting out at 10.
