I failed for a cracked taillight last year. It was just a spider web in the cover, it was like that for 5 years and never let a drop of moisture into it, and all of the lights worked. It just depends on where you go. Any shop can fail you for it if they choose.

Got my plates swapped over from Florida today and brought it in for inspection. Guy wouldn’t even touch it because I had 32% on my front windows and the limit is 35%. 3% difference and he was going to fail it. So minimal

This is why I left MA. A few years ago with a 2.5" lift I was not failed but they refused to even inspect it. They were not polite about it either, seemed offended I even showed up with it. Interesting to note the employees vehicle was lowered with near limo style tint...but that's ok!

According to the lift formula at the time I was allowed 2.75" of suspension lift. The body lift didn't (still doesn't?) matter, the law only addressed suspension lifts. They said it was too close and refused. Found another place, them moved to NH, which is much more friendly.

@Dgibson529 - Westfield was my old stomping grounds!

Mine passed no issue after I ripped the tint off but of course all my glass is ruined with scratches from the blade while taking it off

Its just amazing the stuff they nitpick with, but oh the bumper is falling off and the ball joints are about to blow any second? Thank God your cat isn't throwing codes, have a sticker!

This exactly. Back before I moved away, I don’t think I had a car that ever passed first try

Nope, even with motorcycles they're ridiculous. My buddy was failed for a moderate sounding aftermarket exhaust and another for a SEE THROUGH plate cover.

That’s a little obnoxious. So far I haven’t really missed Living in this state with all the damn laws and rules. Surprised my truck passed with the lift and tires honestly

Same here, stations definitely vary when it comes to leniency...some cases even who is working that day.

Ya I guess not so much now since they started using the cameras. Makes it harder to cut any breaks

MA is now officially a sub-state/territory of CA.

Since we have the same bumper I'll ask you. What did you do with your fog lights, and did that come into play for inspection? I've got aftermarket offload lights as fogs now, and I'm not sure if I should just remove them for inspection or leave them.

I am not running fogs at the moment, so that didn't come up. I have a pair of LEDs, but they are not on. I had to bend the license plate away from the bumper, so that it was visable. I only have it installed with 2 screws in the top holes so I can bend the plate down.

Makes sense! I'll probably remove the fogs ahead of time and bend the plate down as well! Thanks for the heads up.
