Did you guys get a letter from Toyota about the air pump

I just got a letter about that emissions air pump thing anybody else get the letter ? 2012 Tacoma. I haven’t had issue but I guess they want me to bring the truck in and can’t even tell if it’s a recall . Please chime in if you have any info?

This is new, very new. It's a limited service campaign.

 

Whats it cover?

 

Only 2012's right now, I haven't actually completed one, but its basically treating them like the prop shaft campaign.

 

my question is I haven’t had any check engine lights but do I still bring it in?

I got several letter too, but I didn't take it to the dealer. I figured they will not do jack shit, saying you don't have check engine your fine.

Now that you've posted the letter I see why you'd ask that. It's not specific enough.

The easy way is to call your dealer of choice, reference the letter, and ask for an appointment to replace the parts specified.

IE assume the best. The worst that happens is they say 'not how it works' and you call another dealer. This work does NOT have to be from the dealer you bought from or may have service history with.

My guess it's a preemptive action on the part of Toyota, because fixing the mess that can happen post failure is much more complex/expensive, therefore you'll get the new part.

Which, if you don't want to do the unifilter mod linked earlier, is a good thing to have done.

I have a '12 and have yet to receive the letter. I'll keep my eyes out for it.

I had the pump and valves fail on my 2012. Toyota replaced them under a goodwill warranty. I did receive a letter about a year later saying they were now covered under an extended warranty best I remember for 10 years and 150,000 miles.

 

I live in i Miami the moisture content around here is 100% some days. It says humidity kills this filter pump.
