I’m considering trading in my truck for something a little more fun to drive.

Have been toying with the idea since the resale value is so good on these things and I can get into something a little more sporty, with some storage space, a fun manual transmission and can fit 4.

    Anyone trade their truck in?
    Regrets?
Did you get hosed at the dealer?
    What did you trade for?

I used to have an F150 Super Crew with the Ecoboost 3.5 and I traded it in for a fun sporty car...that lasted a year, then I got a small SUV and now I'm back in a pickup (my tacoma). The grass may be greener. Rent one for a week and make sure you want it.

    I traded a 16 Tacoma for a 17 Tacoma.

I’ve done the car thing, but i keep coming back to the trucks. Get yourself a MT Tacoma and you’ll be set.

Cursing around some of the more remote parts of the country is much more enjoyable in a truck, you can haul down the back roads like it’s nothing, unlike a car where you rattle out your brain from the potholes and crap roads.

Trade in is actually pretty good especially when you factor in the sales tax credit

I thought that was what I needed so I test drove a manual Tacoma and could not stand the thing. So I drifted out of the parking lot in my OVTune auto lol. Just not a fun manual transmission imo and more of a pain

Was looking at something like a hot hatch that still has some utility.

Maybe a Golf R or Type R, but I’m not sure

One day I put my mustang cobra into storage....hopped into my 2016 tacoma (after having a 2013 at one point as well) and i said this just isn't going to work, I want a fun car all year. Traded it in for a 2018 WRX and that lasted a whole 9 months before I wanted/needed a truck. Went to a crew cab f150 and love it.

Now I get in tacomas and don't know how I did it. Car sized interior. I could have a party in the back of the f150. It's like having an outside truck bed and an inside bed with a cap, just fold the seats up. lol

I put 50,000 miles on my 2016 Auto before it got traded on my 2017 MT which now has over 85,000 miles on it. Best trade I’ve made.

The MT still has its quirks but I’ll take it every single time over the AT

    stuff and things...
i traded in my '07 single cab for a '13 camaro after it was paid off...then traded the camaro for my new tacoma...

the camaro was fun, but if i would have kept the '07 and saved the monies i could have bought my new truck outright.

Good thing they make both then! I wouldn’t take the MT if the dealer paid me to buy one in exchange for my AT though lol

Unless I get a '62 Corvette, I'm done with cars. Feel sooooo much safer in a truck!

Either your a person who needs a small truck or your not. Don't expect a taco to drive like a Ferrari.

Came from a 2016 Golf R APR Stage 1. Yes, I miss it. With the rear seats down, it had a ton of usable space for guns, guitars, etc. With the rear seats up, it comfortably fits 4 adults, unlike the Tacoma.

The performance is very impressive for a $38k four door hatchback. Sub 4 second 0-60 doesn't get old fast.

2015 RAM Bighorn 5.7 loved it. Traded in for a
2017 Dodge Challenger Scat 6.4 with 485 horse. Loved it but living in New England with a long gravel driveway I just decided to be more practical. Traded in for a
2019 Tacoma OR 4v4 AT. I honestly have some mixed emotions over the engine feeling so out of breath and it sticks in my craw that they over engineered all this Atkinson, dual injector, shift nonsense for the same MPG as my 485 HP pushrod V8. Im still not over that lol! (I averaged 17.1mpg over 15k miles and the Taco now is at 16.5 average.) My practical side wins out and I'm hoping to keep the truck for 300k+ miles

Im in my 40s and have never, ever, driven a vehicle that acted so "out of breath" as this vehicle does. I have a 98 4Runner with 315k miles and it never feels that way.

I rent them all the time when I go to Europe but after a few weeks when I get back to the states I'm happy to be back in my Tacoma. It's much more useful than the hot hatch.

If you have to ask, then yes......I've traded in a few fun/impractical vehicles over the years and always regretted the decision.
