Yeah I honestly hated the Golf R when I first saw it, then I saw the potential with an APR tune some ck wheels, and a 6 year 72k warranty and it has really grown on me.

Thinking about going back or too much utility out of the taco?

Only thing I’ll regret is being able to drag my dog, dirt bike and camping equipment in one vehicle.

This is what I’m afraid of. Thinking I’m going to take @Tora ’s advice and try and rent a VW or Type R. If only the Type R was AWD and the WRX STI didn’t have an engine older than me

They're a lot of fun and I've considered adding to the stable but in reality I just get more use out of the Taco.

As a homeowner I need a bed for the weekly runs to the home improvement store. I'm always dragging stuff home that would never fit in a hot hatch.

I also have an Audi A3 sportback. It is a totally different beast from the Taco and I understand why you want one. I wouldn’t recommend against it, but it really comes down to what your purpose for the vehicle is. On roads and carrying passengers/groceries/etc.—go for the hot hatch. Anything other than paved roads, big dogs, or hauling shit—keep the taco. I won’t be a large child and tell you ‘why not both’. What I will say though, is if you trade your taco in, I would go with a used car. Not sure if you are financing/paid off/etc, but you can save a bundle on a certified pre-owned hatch and the ones that are a few years old (particularly Audi’s) will feel like they are chock full of amenities if you are coming from a taco. Even my 2019 OR premium with all the things (leather/sunroof/heated seats/JBL/etc) is missing a bunch of stuff that my 2010 Audi has!

Good point, aside from the new taco I am a cheap ass. A CPO Golf R would be awesome.

If it snows where you live and they don't plow the residential areas like where I live, an AWD car is no match for a 4WD truck.

Eh, the Quattro on my A3 has yet to fail me. That said, haven’t had to deal with more than 2 feet of fresh so it could go either way.

That's you.... depends on what the OP needs.

I also never worry if the water rises up to two feet. Part of the problems living at sea level and a hurricane rolls through, two feet of water might be something to deal with.... and the end of your Quattro.

I traded my 16 Tacoma for a 17 Civic Hatch and regretted it, I sold that CVT crap after 5 months. I eventually got a 18 Type R and slummed it with my 04 Accord as a daily. Was fortunate enough keep my Type R and get a 19 Tacoma. As much as I enjoy the R, I don't imagine using it for daily duties.

I used to have the EcoBoost F150 as well. Had a bit of fun driving it for sure. But the gas mileage and the overall size made it hard to want to keep.

I keep this on the side to satiate my itch for something more nimble, fun and fuel efficient.

I have a fun sporty car too, but I like driving the Taco way more. Plus I won't get a speeding ticket in the taco. I have two very different driving styles with the car and the truck it's so weird

I traded in my truck for a mustang 5.0 that I had for several years. I regretted it. I have a manual pro and I find it sporty and adventurous in a different way.

Dont do it OP. You will regret it. Trade in for a new Tacoma and kick that resale value down the road a little longer, save for a pro or a fully loaded OR in a manual.
