Did you trade your Tacoma in? Do you regret it?

IMO, the Tacoma is only “fun” when you’re taking it off-road. My F150 ecoboost had a lot more driving excitement. I’d like to get something else as well. Once you ride a bike you realize how slow most vehicles are. I do occasional hauling so a truck better suits my needs. I just miss having power on demand. Not waiting for the thing reving up to 5k to start to move. I’m trying to play my cards right so maybe my next truck can be a raptor. If not I’m probably at the least going back to a fullsized.

I doubt I'll go back to strictly a hatch again. Bikes are more fun anyway. But, as has already been mentioned, the VW/Audi will feel like a $70k car coming from the Tacoma. The materials, build quality, DSG transmission, thud of shutting the door, speakers and Apple Carplay all add up to a much more impressive experience, performance aside.

Now, an Audi SQ5 may be in the near future.

I traded my 2018 Tacoma in for a 2019 Chevy Colorado - best decision I ever made. It has power, AND IT SHIFTS CORRECTLY. I know I lost some money in the deal, but I still think it was worth it.

I sold my 2nd gen a couple years ago and bought a GTI. They are fun as hell. I could haul 4 people and get 30 mpg.

Then I tried to go camping and realized I couldn't get to the good places and couldn't take the bikes. Had to be more careful in the winter. Everyone's headlights are in your back window. Also my insurance premiums went down with the two year newer Tacoma. Now I look for snow.

I traded in my ‘06 SR5 for a new ‘12 Honda Crosstour. Missed the utility of that truck within a week, and then for the next 6.5 years. My wife drives the Crosstour now, and I’m back in an ‘18 TRDOR. Won’t be without a truck again if I can help it at all.

Anyone who traded in their truck, and is still checking these forums, most likely regrets it lol the others are long gone and won’t be checking in to say they don’t regret it.

Agreed. I can’t see myself going without a truck again. As a homeowner with an active family, a truck is essential. I think it depends on what vehicle would fit your needs the best. It sounds like a sportier car or hatch would be fun, but you may need the utility of a truck for camping and to haul your toys.

I love the MT in the taco. Throttle response could be improved and lower reverse gear is needed, but overall its fun. Butter smooth, nice low first gear.

If you comparing to a front wheel drive hatchback/car of course, taco will feel clunky and a bit more awkward to drive.

I had quite a few cars/trucks and always come back to a truck. You can do a lot of things with a pick up, especially if you are into outdoors.

Traded my 16 for a 19 seems like a good move only regret is not getting a long bed, ( won't fit in garage) the Tacomas hold value. Had it 41 months cost me 100, a month vs selling out right, for trade. Just seen it advertised as "Toyota certified" for them to justify the trade price given.

Haven't traded my '18 in yet...but it's coming. My experience with the gen3 has not been positive at all. It's the worst driving vehicle I've ever owned so I really doubt I'll have any regrets. I enjoy driving my kid's beat up '01 Lexus ES300 more than this Tacoma.

Fun cars are secondary to me, and as infrequently as they got used, were sold off years ago.

This exactly, but I did it a little different. 2015 WRX>2016 Tacoma>2019 Ford F150 SuperCrew XLT FX4 3.5EB. My daughter can have a dance party in the back seat of my F150 with the seats up, and I don't have to lean my seat back to drive it (6'4" tall). If you negotiate a deal that works for you, and you're happy with it, you won't get hosed. Walk into any trade knowing that you don't have to walk out with a different vehicle. There are thousands of options, both new and used, and you don't NEED to upgrade. I got KBB high trade (not great compared to others: NADA, Black Book...etc), but I got my $57,000 MSRP F150 for ~$39,000 ($4,500 in Ford Discounts, $6,500 in Ford rebates, and $7,000 in dealer mark down). With the $4,000 I got over what I owed on my Tacoma, I was out the door for ~$38,000. I got a lot more truck, a lot more power, better tech (Android Auto), and a lot more comfort (3 inches of head room and heated seats).
