That's because you likely had SYNC2. or an early version of Sync 3 That did not have Android and CarPlay implemented in 2017

Sync 3 goes far beyond what Entune can do. Very far. The B&O is much better than the JBL upgrade as well. After 2016 SYNC 3 Had Apple Carpay and Android. Entune has neither and may be out in the 2020. 8" screen is very nice.

Tacoma is never the leading edge. Always a follower. With all the trucks they sell Toyota does not need to upgrade the drivetrain, interior, and tech very often, People will buy them anyway.

Tacoma is fun off road. I prefer a street truck as my wheeling days were over in the 90's. I had four Tacomas. None of them was a great street truck.

If I wanted a full size, I could have bought an F150 for less money than the Ranger. But I don't need a full-size truck. I like to be able to walk around my vehicles in the garage,

Pretty much the main reason I got rid of mine. Just plain out of breath. Sad, too, because there was much to like.

I'm on my fourth Toyota truck. The first three were sold or traded due to circumstances. The third one I traded because my wife didn't like riding in it, so we bought a '15 Highlander. The Highlander is a great car, but it's not a truck. A couple of months ago, we traded in my wife's Rav4, which I hated anyway, for my '16 Tacoma Limited 4x4. I love it and I it will take some pretty bad circumstances for me to sell or trade in, this one!

Same here. Tired of spending good money on a mediocre vehicle. The 2016 proved to be worse than my 2nd Gen. IF I m gonna stoke a check for a truck I want up to date drivetrain and interior tech. I never thought I would see the day when a 4 banger completely outperforms a V6. Or the day when a single TacomaWorld thread has 45,000 replies The Tacoma is desperate for a "tune", not something I would do anyway

I m not done with Tacoma. I will take another look in three or four years when I'm ready to buy again.

It was sync 3, and it was a 2017 ..I'm not saying entune is a pioneer or is great in anyway but my day to day use of both units didn't change. Sync 3 is prettier, im sure it has more functionality but at the end of the day all in used it for was a Bluetooth device to listen to my music. And at least the unit in my Tacoma doesn't just overheat and shut down.

I privately sold my '09 Tacoma back in 2014 to get a new '14 WRX hatchback for reasons similar to yours. To this day, I regret selling the truck. I miss the ground clearance and being able to throw stuff in the bed among other reasons. Can't wait till I can get back into one!

First off I’m not painting every Tacoma with a broad brush, but had to lemon law my 2016 TRDOR. Had to get rid of it and now have a Chevy Colorado with the diesel motor and haven’t looked back. I guess I just happened to get a bad Taco. I know they’re not all that way

Did not trade a Taco but instead test drove AT and MT several times hoping beyond hope that it was just me but nope it was the truck. Love the Taco look and it’s capabilities are great for a smaller truck but performance is terrible and mpg is god awful for a 2019. Looked at half tons and really did not want that size albeit all of them performed much better than the Taco but did not love the look of them and was nervous of longevity with all except the Tundra and Titan (my favorite
of all tested). So decide to keep my old Frontier and bought a Volvo V90. Drives really nice, can take a 8hr trip and comfortable all the way. A lot more power than the Taco albeit not a sports car in any way and tons of room. I still have my old Frontier for hauling stuff when I need to so I am fine there. I still look at nice Tacos when they drive by but then immediately remember how disappointed I was in all the test drives.

I'm considering a new Chevy 1500 Trailboss Custom. Living at 6000ft+ and on 285' tires sucks the life out of this motor, plus the kids are getting bigger and need more room in the backseat.

I have 3 cars. 07 xterra 4x4 I bought new in 06. Love it. 17 patriot 4x4. Love it for its go anywhere I want to go utility. Had a 2013 patriot 4x4 stick. Decided last year to trade that for a fun car. A 2019 mustang gt pp1. Loved it at first but came to realize it's a 1 trick pony that I would rarely use. So I traded that for my 2019 taco trd or aut . Love the taco. So much more useful to me! No regrets. This is my first pickup since my 97 Nissan truck I bought new. That was 2wd.

I think Toyota will up its game in the next few years. I'm sure they realize full well the reasons people are looking elsewhere.

That incessant buzzing at 2000 was enough for me to eat several thousand dollars and not even look back.

I have about seven payments left and i'm already itching to get back into something fun. I doubt i'll trade, but I do see a Classic Mini or a new Cooper S in the garage in a year. I'd consider a VW GTi, but since VW doesn't make a 2 door anymore i'm not interested.

Might be getting too old for this.
I’m convinced that domestic full size trucks are intentionally way overpriced so they can advertise savings of $10,000+ and one thinks they are getting a deal.
