I started working in my dad's meat locker shop back in Illinois when I was 11. I liked it at first cause I was a little kid and it was cool that nobody else was being big like pop but me. I went every day after school mom would drive me and my homework to his shop and i basically spent till 8-8:30 there with dad. He ran a freezer shop where folks would order a side and dad would knock it down to steaks chops and roasts. My job was to wrap each piece in freezer paper, stamp with ink stampers what they were then bag and freeze them. Then I would clean the shop and front office, then dad would cook up some steaks or burgers or even lamb chops for him and me and I'd start my homework in the rear office where there were chairs and a couch and a TV:) watched Sanford&Son and DickVanDyke many an evening there. Did that till I was 16-then it was fry cook at a steakhouse, truck driver for an ad mailing company, long distance operator for Ma Bell, then 30 years at Safeway running meat shops there. I'm almost 50-I worked nonstop for about 38 years till this bloodclot disabled me:( otherwise I'd still be rockin!
PS I drove parents' cars till I was 18 when I bought my first car.
