I have a 2022 corolla cross and both the driver and passenger doors have popped open while driving, had it back to the dealer a couple times now and they can't duplicate the issue.

First time it was into the dealer, toyota canada told the dealer the vehicle was safe and to release it back to us. Since then the passenger door popped open while i was on the highway doing 100km/h, it's back to the dealer now and im waiting to hear back.

Removed some stuff, added some stuff.
If you close the driver and passenger side doors at close to the same time it could cause this to happen. Found this out after driving and getting out, we both closed our doors and mine didn’t close all the way. I’m no engineer or physicist but I do understand air pressure lmao. Could be a fluke tho or mechanical failure…or the third gen really is as shit as the 2nd gen guys say…

YES had it happen on my 2020 a few months ago around a right turn down a small hill. Thought the door was closed all the way but could have easily been open a bit, couldn’t confirm
    I believe you maxmk8 lol

I’ve seen fully latched tailgates pop open for no reason. In fact, after the factory denied the repair to the customers tailgate (it crashed onto the trailer and dented it up pretty good), they recalled the trucks nine months later.

Hello, I came across this forum/post (?) today after experiencing quite a shock with my newer Tacoma. This vehicle is new for me, bought it with 4 miles on it in August 2022. I have about 17.5k on it currently and it's my daily driver. I was driving to one of my destinations today, about 15 miles into my trip, when I heard a very loud "pop" and my drivers door popped open. I was on a narrower road, had to pull to the shoulder, and grab the door shut.
I have never experienced anything like this! My tacoma is more of a base model but still has all the alarms for an open or improperly latched door. My door was shut when I started my trip, there were no alarms or lights signifying it was open. And why the loud pop? My doors haven't made that sound at any time since I've owned it. I've read a few posts, I don't lean on my door while driving, and I was not going around a corner or bend in the road when it happened. There isn't any damage to the door either.
This is very concerning to me obviously. This time it was my driver's door, I could grab it to close it, and I wear a seat belt. What if one of the other three doors pop open?
I suppose I should be proactive and find out what recourse there is for property damage due to this type of incident.

Yeah, thread revival on a Friday.

I've had my 2021 Sport for almost 2 years now.

This is not an issue in my truck.

The doors auto-lock once I start driving.

I make sure the doors are secure before putting it in Drive.

Auto locking doors ... my base model does not auto lock when put in drive. This is a feature I've had on my vehicles for quite a few years; I guess that will need to be a new habit for me, I'll lock the doors before I put it in drive. I must say I've never spent so much to get so little as far as feeling safe.

Reviving the post again guys lol! My brand new 2023 Tacoma Limited door popped open randomly yesterday.

I was on my way to work and about 10 miles into the trip. I was driving straight and went over a bump at about 25-30mph and then heard a loud pop and saw an ⚠️ error message on my dashboard and loud beeps. I’m like what the heck just happened. Look over and my door is partially opened.

Now I don’t lean on my door or put my elbow on door the as I was taught by FedEx to always keep 2 hands on the wheel. Just habit now. There was also no ⚠️ warning light on the dashboard that the door was not fully shut. I did drive a slightly different route to work than I usually take but they shouldn’t make a difference.

I wish I had my Dashcam installed but it’s sitting on the table lol! I’m gonna get the bad boy installed in case this happens again.

Never had this happen in any vehicle or truck and I’ve driven thousands of miles opening and closing doors at a high rate working for FedEx.
