Did your front bumper come with holes for your plates?

I have not had a front plate on any of my cars in the past 20 years and have only received one ticket.

I had a Scion tC with no plate in Cali. Over on scionlife forums many people either bought or made brackets to hold a front plate when needed. Don't drill the bumper. Keep it clean. Home depot is your friend.

I was supposed to sign some waiver from the stealer but it was never presented to me. I told them I would affix the plate myself and did not want the holes drilled.

Since I had my front bumper replaced I have not reinstalled the new plate. I don't want it there, and frankly I'm pissed off Toyota didn't offer a factory plate holder to prefvent paint damage to the vehicle (Missouri, 2 plate law).

When I bought the truck I put rubber stick on bumpers all over behind to protect the pain but someone smashed the corner of the plate over in a parking lot, gouging my paint.

I have not been hassled about it yet.

I dunno, the bumper is just a piece of plastic, not the Mona Lisa nor the Holy Grail. If the law of my state requires me to have a plate there, I'll put it there. Holes drilled can be refilled, it's not a big deal. I'd have it in a warm place before I began drilling or use self-tapping screws though, a heated garage or shop for a couple of hours rather than going at it in sub-freezing temps just to be on the safe side.

I just bought mine and put the front plate on cuz I try and be a good citizen, now I regret it. In just one week it has scratched the paint and gouged the plastic. I think I'll take it off now. I'll keep looking for some way to attach it, but till then, screw it! If anyone comes up with something I'ld love to hear it.

I built a 68 Charger in California while in the Air Force. Went down and got what I thought was one plate. I drove that thing in SoCal for two years before they threw it out of the state with only the rear plate on, had a Direct Connection plate on the front, never got stopped (and I did some dumb shit like doing 130MPH on the freeways there).

When I sold it I pulled the rear plate off and two came off. They were so stuck together when I got them I didn't know there was two!

One reason why I like my black plastic bumper... still, I envy you who live in places that don't require front plats. Damn I miss Alberta.

Also, in California it's illegal to have a clear plastic cover over your license plates. I think it messes up the many cameras that are out there watching us constantly, from the camera-enforced intersections to the airport parking lots.

Don't you have to be 18 to have passengers these days? I grew up near Santa Cruz, definitely miss that place but do not miss all those crazy laws.

the plate covers are pretty much illegal in most states. cops bounce the laser off the plate, covers screw them up.

I've often thought of a device like that, didn't know anyone had made it though. I suppose it would be torn off by the wind if you tried it on the front bumper.

Cool until you get caught with it. It's all kinds of illegal.

On Myth Busters they tried to bust the myth that you could go fast enough past an automatic picture-taking speed trap that the camera would miss the plate. (They were driving an lamborghini in the episode... it was awesome.)

One thing they tried was to attach a plate-flip type device. Rather than just flip the plate down, it actually switched it with another. (It rotated rather than just flipped down.) In the pictures the car would say something smart-ass on the plate, like "eat me" or "not this time"

BTW... the lamborghini's plate was clearly legible at 180mph+, so don't try it at home!

Well the expirament is over, highway patrol pulled me over and told me not to drive my truck untill my front plate is permanetly attached. When I feel the inside of my bumper, there is a plastic sleeve on the other side of the dimple. Does anyone know if it is threaded and what size bolt I need?

You can't stick it in the windshield? I dunno about screwing into it, AZ doesn't have a front plate law and mine's still unmarked...

I had it in the windshield, CSP did not like that. It is done, I used some self tapping screws. I liked it better without a front plate but at least I won't get pulled over again for no front plate.

On both new vehicles I have purchased, I let them know that if they installed a front plate or front plate holder, I would walk from the sale even if the paperwork was signed.
