The thing is, corporate doesn't care. Even if Yota Pros can effectively diagnose and fix the issue they'll claim a dealer and certified tech has to work on it. I doubt you'll get any reimbursement from them.

I called him when he had a lobby full of customers. He's planning on giving me the details tonight or tomorrow. I'm going to ask about it because one of the causes of this issue is a bad head gasket.

Something I've been thinking about are the conditions. Uphill and modest acceleration puts a load on the engine. I was trying to think about how to put that load on the engine without driving all over creation looking for hills (not too hard to find in AZ) and I wondered if a loaded trailer would help reproduce the bog and die scenario. I'm going to mention that too.

Well it's free to ask. I can start there and see. Jennifer (corp) did mention that they would be willing to pay if an independent shop found an issue. So far that's just lip service until I have Benjamins in my hand. But I'm willing to ask nicely and then firmly.

Why not take it to another Toyota dealer? You're going to fight an uphill battle with this one. This needs to be on their dime unless your out of warranty.

There's a correlation of lean cylinders on the passenger side of the block and engine failures with these 3rd gens. I'm not saying this is going to happen to OP's truck, but I would like to know why this occurs.

Glad my dudes at Yota Pros could isolate and identify the issue.
These guys are good. No muss no fuss they just do the work ( good work ) at a reasonable price.

That was covered earlier in this thread. It's a lot to read, i get it, but it was talked about.
To summarize, Another dealer couldn't take it unless it was ok'd by corporate since they were already involved, if i'm remembering correctly.

It’s happened in the past they (Toyota) are usually good on warranty claim payouts even if they are done at independent shops.

If not, then maybe small claims court is the next move..

Excellent analogy since the blowing on the cart was actually worse in the long haul..

When I discussed that with Corporate they said I could take it to a different shop but they preferred Bell Road to keep all of the problems isolated to one shop. They also said that Todd's notes are going to follow my Tacoma FOR-EV-ER at every Toyota service Shop and that a new shop, while fresh eyes, are going to look at Todd's notes and go straight to the fuse panel.

That's why I took it to an independent shop that is highly regarded as THE Toyota Shop in the Greater Phoenix Valley of the Sun. Good question though. I wanted to. Believe me.

So off and on when at freeway speeds, I thought I was detecting a misfire because the truck hesitated for just a fraction of a second. But the tachometer never slowed and the dash never lit up so I dismissed it as just part of driving on the rough freeway around here. Thought it was all in my head. Probably tire, wheel, suspension, headwind, any one of a hundred other things and since it never missed enough to bog, I just assumed the engine was running good. Why would an engine with 5,000, 10,000, 15,000 miles misfire?

Even after the two times she face-planted in traffic and limped home I still thought the hesitate / skipped beat was all in my head and that now I was making the problem worse than it actually is. So I disregarded hat little occasional hesitation.

She really is a sweetheart. I'm glad my calls with her are recorded because she absolutely puts on a Master Class in customer service when I call. And she has to deal with Todd on the regular too - and for MULTIPLE customers having issues at Bell Road Toyota. Yesterday and a few other times when I called in, she wasn't available and there is a NOTICEABLE difference in her tactics and the others.

    No Shit! Right?
When this started, I thought I'd get 5 posts deep and the issue would be solved and whoever had this issue after me could refer back to this for an answer. Now we are on the Season 5, Episode 8 Cliff Hanger of Taylor Sheridan's "Magnetic Grey Taco." Fuck I want this to be over before some one shoots a Dutton.

I've never sued anyone over anything. My philosophy was don't throw good money (and time) after bad. I only get a little PTO and I'd rather not waste it in court. Even if I rolled the value of my time in there I still wouldn't get the time. I'm not ruling it out, but I'm not inclined to go that direction. ""If the Fuse doesn't fit, you must...." oh I think you know how that goes. ;-)

What is small claims court? 3K?

OP it only takes a minute to describe the issue and that the problem is still there. They still have an issue, and your girl is of no help. Let the new dealer fix it and who cares what Todds notes say as he is worthless employee! I would trade it in a second!

$3500 max in AZ, which is absolute bull spit in my opinion. Other states like CA are $12500.
