Yes, and not just the cartridge..on the machine once you pop the cart back in.

Depends what all the cost for getting this thing fixed is of course, just that it's an option.

Depends on the state. Might get called to be on Judge Judy, never know..

Just saw this thread and didn’t read through it of course, does the v6 have a purge valve/solenoid? Those things could make cars, limp, and not trigger a check engine light if the valve is open… slowly walking away backwards now

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
Oh boy. You've missed a whole lot! Lolol

I haven't been able to read the whole thread, but check in from time.

Something to read and it comes in installments! Like a miniseries or something.

LOL on both. I don't blame you. Once a thread hits 7 pages I skip to the end too. When it's over (and dear God I hope that is soon and cheap), I'll ETA the OP and put some updates in there that saves people the headache of what is now 21 pages of Teryota Bull Schisse.

@Scotfree - That isn't the exact symptom I'm having and after Toyota failed to properly diagnose the truck. I have it at Yota Pros (out of pocked $$) for a true diagnosis. It's misfiring (not enough for a MIL / CEL or P-Code) and eventually throws enough of a misfire that it dies (now we get a MIL/CEL and Code) and on restart goes into limp.

@TheWildMan - Nailed it. It's a Miniseries of Maxifrustration. Wife never lets me buy a used truck because she doesn't want someone else's buggered mystery issues. And here I am with a new truck, still under a warranty that Toyota won't honor (because I had a ham radio in the truck) and its got Toyota Factory buggered mystery issues.

if it does have a purge solenoid or a purge valve, it would feel the same way if it’s stuck open it just dumps raw fuel, floods everything and nothing will spark correctly. Have had that issue with another one of my cars. I hope you figure it out. Sometimes these things are just super sensitive. Hopefully you don’t have mice eating your wires.!! I haven’t worked on the V6 I only have a 2.7.
if it does have one, remove it and flood it with MAF cleaner shake it, and repeat like 10 times. EVAP system issues are always the funnest. Good luck I’ll be following the thread.

Ladies and Gentlemen! Children of all ages! Come one come all!

Yota Pros thinks they have this in the bag!

I talked to them today. They had some parts over-nighted and they go on tomorrow.
Cylinder 2 is getting 2 new fuel injectors. One direct and the other in the port. Didn't know we had 2! Then they ordered some seals, gaskets and goodies because they are pulling the fuel rail to do this. But it looks like there is a bad fuel injector in this cylinder. After they put this on and roll some miles on it they will know for sure. Also visual inspection of the fuel injectors they pull may also reveal something.

But I feel good that we are close!

I did ask about the other questions people had asked here and they either checked that or validated it through other means - example the leak down is tested another way with the scan tool now.

I live about 4 miles from Yota Pros - they have been doing all my maintenance ( such as it is ) from day one, no dealer mishaps for me.
I use another group, SubiWorkx for my wife's ( bought new ) 2017 Forester.

I swear by these good independent shops. Unless it's a serious Recall I won't let a dealer touch my vehicles.

Hope this is the final fix.!

Some way some how Todd is going to find a way to argue that the ham radio caused electromagnetic waves to create microscopic spot welds specifically on the #2 fuel injectors.

I wish they would have done an actual leak down test but what do I know they are the Pros. First I’ve heard of a leak down test done by a scan tool learn something new everyday.

I'm not surprised - there is a sensor or a nanny or a governor or some electrical doo-dad every where under the hood.

When is the last time you saw a mechanics stethoscope in an shop? The computers return excellent data these days.
    upload_2025-3-3_20-46-27.png
Hell there used to be a special tool just for a 1953-1957 MG TD with twin side draft carburetors, so once you go them both tuned, you could synch them together mechanically.
Imagine one tool for one model of an obscure British company's cars for one particular engine. And someone had to know how to use that tool. Those days are gone.

I still have a stethoscope in my toolbox and a async tool that I used to sync the dual Delortos on an old BAJA I had years ago.

Not shocking per se, with all the electric stuff in vehicles. I surmise if they saw any variance on that they'd proceed to the more conventional method however.

On a 2023, I doubt it's a fuel injector issue, hope I'm wrong. With your issues, I would still be worried about cylinder head(s), valves, etc.. They have failed enough on these 3.5 Tacomas (and other 3.5 models like highlander) that I wouldn't want to own one.

So, has the Florida Todd chimed in yet regarding the Yota Pros findings?
What does ASE say about aftermarket ham radios plugging up the injectors?
Does the data sensitive Canbus turn into Lincoln Electric when it is used with a breaker tap?

I think everyone needs to slow down and remember that these "findings" are only theories until the truck is fixed and the issue doesn't repeat. Getting ahead of yourself is an easy way to get disappointed pretty quickly.

Even the best shops can take more than one try to fix something.

    Check build thread!
I'll be the contrarian in this thread- I actually appreciate OP keeping us updated. Nothing more frustrating then when there's a interesting issue that OP ghosts us on and we never get to know the resolution.
