I envy the gas mileage gains in hot dry weather. No added moisture in the air and expanded fuel molecules make these engines happy.

I'm looking for one too. Thinking about calling up Yota Pros and asking them.

    Yeah.
I just saw this thread and started at the beginning, but must admit I mainly focused on OP's posts. I did notice the appearance of Florida Man, who has since disappeared along with all of his original posts (that guy needs professional help). What a saga. Glad everything worked out eventually, but frustrating to not have a local dealer with a competent service department.

I didn't know about opening a case with corporate until I got pissed about the melting DRL lenses on my 2009 (that I didn't notice until 37k miles) and sent an email to the US CEO of Toyota. He forwarded it to the proper folks, they opened a case, took care of the problem and subsequently released a TSB. Highly recommend getting corporate involved if things aren't being addressed, but seems like it didn't do much good in this case, other than having a good trail of evidence to support reimbursement.

Thanks for the story, all's well that ends well.

It feels like this saga has been ongoing since Cain slew Abel.
I don't even remember the Florida guy.

Edit: No, wait a minute... Floriduh guy. I do remember..
He may have known more about himself than he realized.

    Glad it worked out OP.

I remember him too what a strange character IIRC he asked to have his account terminated and a Mod accommodated him.

    Yeah.
Yep, it happened pretty fast. He went ballistic (but within the CoC), posted his wall of degrees/certificates to prove he was smarter than all of us, then rage quit TW. Pretty sure the mods were happy to oblige his request.

That whole theory of the add-a-fuse causing an issue was ridiculous. Power and comms don't share the same wires (at least in most applications, and certainly not this one), and shielding comms from noise is standard practice. We've done that with car audio since before there were computers in cars. If it was actually the cause, that would be a design defect that would likely result in a safety recall.

Techs don't like doing diagnostic work for electrical gremlins or intermittent problems under warranty unless there is absolutely no other work coming into the shop. Warranty work typically doesn't pay as well, and they likely get a flat number of hours to do the diagnosis even if it takes them twice that long or more. That said, this is not a customer problem. Corporate should have stepped in harder and required them to do some actual diagnostics.

I bought my house from a Yale grad civil engineer that built it himself in the mid-90's.

Wouldn't allow a home inspection because "it didn't need it"
Wouldn't allow a termite inspection because that's for "home with termites"
Wouldn't allow a walk through until after the closing because "he didn't trust us"

While there were no termites, a home inspection would have tipped the GVWR of a Tacoma.
A degree does not a smart man make, no matter where you get it.
And the faster he is to bring it up the fact he has one, the more suspect I'd be of it..

I'm pretty sure that violates a few sections of a standard real estate contract. You bought the house anyway though, lol.

I'm a realtor, my wife's a realtor, and my sister is a broker. (or at least we all hold licenses)

    The contract was written.
We could buy, sue, or walk away..
    We wanted the house.

Interesting that he melted down and asked to be deleted.

Besides him, there are 3 others that posted in this thread that have been banned. Seems you hit the jackpot on crackpots.

I wouldn't call it a kill chain, they self immolated, not unlike FlaPsycho. TBH, 1 was only a 30 day, the other 2 were perma.
