So I swear this isn’t click bait or anything but I’m at the Toyota dealer right now for my 10K service and a salesman just told me they had a meeting this morning and the new 4Runner will be getting a Diesel in 19 or 20, and he “assumed” it would make its way to the Tacoma.

I litterally know nothing more than I just said but if anyone has any info I’d love to hear it.

Also they have a brand new Black Pro sitting here and are willing to deal on it. (I prefer my OR with all my Mods) but if anyone in NY is looking it’s nice....

Like I said I am not making it up and I don’t know anything that’s just what the sales guys said.... maybe it’s true? Maybe it’s not. guess we will have to revisit this is 2 years and see haha. He said it was their plan to “revive” the 4Runner. Also he said a “global platform” Diesel Camary was coming....

Sweet. I'd have to imagine SFA, F/R lockers, and factory winch options as well.

I have read these rumors from time to time, and really don't believe them, but who knows?

I wouldn’t kid. They’re a good dealer. I’ve bought a few vehicles there. They’re pretty fair in my opinion. And NO I don’t have anything to do with them! Haha.

Sticker On the black one parked out front was like 44k if I remember. I’ll still take my 33k OR and 10k in mods thank you.

You know. We Joke, but my truck before this Taco was a 15 Power Wagon, before they came back out no one would have probably ever thought a new modern vehicle could or would come with Factory Front and Rear lockers, and a 12k Warn winch.... yet it did...

I seriously doubt TOYOTA is looking at much past the soccer mom market but hey. You never know?

Yes, we all know. If there is one thing Toyota is not, it's edgy. They want safe. They want secure. When's the last time they went out on a limb? They didn't touch the Tacoma for over 10 years. Tundra is going on what, 12 years? Diesel ain't happening. I could see them go hybrid before any diesel talk.

Might check out an OR there then. I don't need a pro. Maybe trade in my 13 if the price is right. Worth the 90 min drive for a good deal!

Yeah their website has most trucks listed 1800-2200 below sticker. Obviously if you’re ready to buy you can prob do even better. They were a few thousand cheaper than the other dealer that’s in the City.

The third gen forum would literally implode if an oil burning taco was ever produced. Predicted threads:

    ....where does the def go?

    ....why is my oil black?

....why does my taco stink every 600 miles or so? (Double entendre intended)

    ....is this engine sound normal?

.....what is this squiggly line thing that flashes on the dash every time I turn my truck on?

.....how many filters are on my truck?

    Another prediction:

Despite the new diesel having a torque rating of 415 ft-lbs, second gen bros will spam the third gen forum claiming the 4.0 still has a better torque curve.
