Diesel sound when rolling to a stop from a 2.7.

    That changes everything it being that you are a manual. One thing.. if you engage or disengage the clutch does it make the sound? Or does the sound go away at all? If anything I just described occurs it could very well be your clutch throwout bearing and not the a/c after all.

    It is a waste of money to throw parts at an unknown perceived problem that may not even be a problem.

    I highly doubt it is the compressor. More likely the gears and or clutch throwout bearing.

    Mine has some rattles also, 4cyl. manual. Mostly when started in the morning, but also has a rattle with the AC , when the compressor kicks on, and if I put the clutch in it goes away. I believe it may be a loose heat shield
