It would seem Toyota would need to consider a diesel option with the Colorado having one and Jeep is supposed to have the Eco thingy they put in the Ram 1500 available soon. V6 turbo diesel that can be tuned... that could be fun. Big tires, armor, a RTT, and it doesn't care because it has plenty of torque and still gets good mileage. It will have a DEF tank though... stupid DEF.

Hey, you could roll coal like the big boys :anonymous:

The most important feature with modern diesels is to make sure they have that mode that fakes emission testing, so you get max horsepower and economy......except when it’s on the smog dyno. Like.....the neighbour’s kids might get lung cancer from the diesel particulates, but that’s fine. He’s a dick anyways.

Hopefully the Germans are sharing this critical technology with Toyota.

It's been a decade or more, but we still have some, I don't have the same position at work. You're right, it is much to do about emissions over here, they've been neutered.

Not sure if it would work in the Tacoma but Cummins makes a complete crate diesel for Jeep CJ/Wrangler's for about $7,700. You still need all the adapters like motor mounts, bell housing and so on. Always wanted to put one in my CJ7, but why give up a 360 V-8 with dual flowmasters (pulled from a Wagoneer)??

Lots of YouTube engine swap videos with this motor.

Toyota outsells the Colorado by a large margin, they are probably not worried about the tiny handful of customers they lose over the diesel.
