I guess I'm just so against it based on the overall layout of our front drivetrain, and what the diff drop actually achieves, in relation to our cv axles.

That and there are proven alternatives such as high angle cv axle boots or even ext cv axles (for ADD vehicles).

Speaking of, my ext cv axles must be sealed in some sort of odd way because the boots on both of them actually ripped but I've been driving on them with no ill effects. No grease anywhere underneath either.

All I can say is that when I installed my diff drop, while it didn't return the angles to stock (obviously), it did seem to lower then a bit. I just wish I would have taken some measurements to be sure it wasn't just in my head. And I'm certainly too lazy to revert to stock just to take some measurements.

    They ripped already?

You know the old saying "if it's leaking, it still has oil" so maybe they never had grease in the first place? :D

But I think you need a diff drop

Those CVs are on my list, so it'll be interesting to see if the combo of the CVs and the minor changes from a diff drop will be enough to prevent the tearing. Or aftermarket high-angle boots...

I was texting Ryan about it, and after closer inspection...looks to have been ripped for awhile now.

I haven't done anything off road in over a month, and I put over 300 miles per week on my 4R, including going up and down Pacheco Pass.

If lack of grease was an issue of any sort, they would've exploded by now as traveling to Sanger...you can drive over 70mph alone on highway 90.

The design is different which allows them to travel farther than oem-type cv axles. For that reason, things may me sealed up differently?

I haven't been able to make sense of it, from the pics he showed me the boots have clearly torn off the clamp and separated, but there's not a spot of grease anywhere...and he's been out wheeling in the snow several times, surely if they had no grease from the get-go they wouldn't have lasted very long before the joints exploded, and if dirt/water got in them they'd blow up sooner rather than later. It's a mystery that probably needs its own thread lol.

And no, I don't need a diff drop :luvya:

I just need to install my winch mount and get a winch or just lessen the preload on my coilovers :burp:

Underside is dry as a bone sans a tiny drip from my cv axle seal and that's it.

No noise, nothing. And I forgot to mention this to anyone but I don't get that binding while in 4L and having to turn...I didn't want to turn but I kind of had to when maneuvering some tight trails.

your cv angles should be stock with a drop bracket lift. unless you missed the drop bracket part and are sitting on 6 inch coilovers
