When the breather closes, the weak link becomes the seals. It will suck water in through the seals. That's the point of the 2-way breather...it allows it suck cool air in, instead of water through the seals. You only completed half of the mod...that's why there's 2 recommended parts, not just 1.

I ordered the parts to do my rear dif!

However, after reading through the various threads there are a couple of different part numbers.

Edit: Use the part #'s below!

    Union: 90404-51319

    TacomaDiffBreatherMod007_b07f0dca8d452c67a64d6d2a0f394eafdd63dc14.jpg

What's the difference and does it matter?

I also ordered a new Plug breather Part #: 90930-03136 to attach at the end of the hose.

Some people say that a two-way breather is better? So do I really need part number 90930-03136 (one way) or should I just go with a two way?

I'm also wanting to do my transmission but I'm unclear as to what parts are needed?

    Thanks,

    Jay

I used the parts you showed in your picture, worked fine. You definitely want the 2-way breather...that's half the reason for doing this mod.

    Toyota Part numbers:
90404-51026 Camary Union - part that goes into the differental.
90930-03136 (Breather Union) - im guessing actually breather because it says breather.

I just bought both part numbers and did this mod a few months back. cant recall which one is which but what i explained above seems to be right.

ends should be the same size. Breather is the correct piece. Union is the wrong one. Correct one listed here: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/te...erential-breather-mod-photos.html#post2141849

yea you're right, they should be the same size, but i used the part numbers that the OP of this thread used, so I was wondering if anybody along the way, noticed the same problem? or was it able to slide on smoothly? I test fitted 5/16 fuel line and had to cut the sides off to get it off

Thanks for the post. Glad I read the last couple of pages too. Now to find the best price on shipping for 6$ in parts. So far toyotapart dot com is the cheapest at 8$.

Did this mod a couple days ago. No easy access behind the gas cap area on a '13... would require removing the wheel well liner and I didn't want to mess with those stupid 'clips'. Ended up putting it in the bed cubby like some others have done.

PS: Wear gloves that stuff is fiberglass lol. I'm going to tweak how it's mounted a bit but it works!

I'm going to do this mod as soon as it warms up a little bit. I like the taillight location that I saw. Think I'll go with putting it there.
