Diff Drop Verdict?

What's the deal with these things? Do they work or not? Seeing way too many conflicting reviews.

 

Technically they lower the cv at the diff so sure it helps but its only being lower under half inch or so because the 1" diff drop only lowers front mount.

 

Its a minimal drop, but it does drop the diff helping with your angles. Plus its cheap and suoer easy to install.

 

Mine seemed to help a little but not all.

 

If you have high speed vibrations (mine were limited to 50-60 mph) in the front as soon as you install your lift, it is quite likely those vibs are from your CV axles, particularly the boot fins are touching.

I used a diff drop to lower the front of the diff just a tad. Enough that the vibs went away and the boot fins stopped touching. A diff drop is not a miracle cure for lifting too much tho.

The fact remains, if you lift the front more that 2.5"s, you've gone beyond the sweet spot. Stay below that and your CV boots will last and you'll put less stress on all the IFS suspension components.

 

Think your vib was from bearing in diff not the cvs.

 

No, definitely not. Diff drop installed, vibs went away. FWIW, I've put almost 70K on the truck since.

No diff bushing issues.

 

I'm not familiar with the rear diff mounts. Why isn't it possible to have some kind of drop kit that works on all of the mounts and not just the front?
