My turd has started howling even under load now. It used to be under light load, but now it's straight howling the whole time between 60-70mph.

I don't have any howl that I can hear over the duratracs.

But when I was picking up some more parts from the shop I got all my lift from etc and who's eventually doing the install when work picks back up and I get some more of a good cash flow from work as its slow as fuck right now.
I asked about what would need to be done to figure out such a howl etc. Since toyota has already told me lift will void warranty etc. was curious what it would cost to take apart the diff and figure out whats wrong.
Basically he said if its just not set up right, to pull it apart and take a look at everything to make sure there is no damage that's causing it then rebuild it since its most likely just a shitty set up, $600 roughly.
This is a shop that deals with a lot of toyota trucks and FJs, heavy into off roading. Was talking to the owner specifically who has had toyota trucks all his life. Said toyota has always had a problem with setting up diffs properly.

So I'm curious how long before someone just fuckin pays the price and has a different shop do it?
If I had it, I'd already be paying someone to do it. As I can't wait on dealers to waste my time. I'll rather just pay the price and have it done right the first time. Not have some dumb cunt at a dealer who only knows stock vehicles and how to remove an old part and replace with a new one, try and fix it. Because lets be real here, any problem like this shouldn't be solved by remove old one and replace with new one. Their idea of trouble shooting is just replace it, not diagnose what's the actual cause.

It's not that we aren't willing to pay, but most of us are waiting for Toyota to find a replacement or fix for it since we are all under warranty still. And any tampering could void the warranty if and when it is fixed. I personally couldn't care less what happens as long as it's addressed within the next 30 months/ 33k miles.

Wait for the trucks to get out of the warranty range and I'm sure you'll begin to hear of Indy shops doing their diagnosis.

ur gears probably wore out prematurely. when they wine under deceleration it's usually a bearing issue. Did you drive ur tacoma easy for the first couple hundred miles?

if yours is stock I guess so.

I won't be able to as I can see toyota saying it was the lift that caused it not toyota.
toyota canada seems to be a bit of a bitch over warranty compared to the US from what I hear on here and I've experenced with them.

But still with the amount of time wasted I would've already have paid after the first diff change that didn't work.
The more work I have to miss dealing with their bullshit the more it cost me.

Pricing them out as we speak.

Never regeared a vehicle before. These gears are like $400.. weren't people paying $1000+ for a kit? How much is a re-gear?

I might just dump this POS for a different vehicle altogether. It's frustrating as hell, because I reallllly want to like this truck. Every time I take a step in the right direction it starts acting up worse and I take two steps back.

I don't want to be reminded of it's short comings every.single.time. I drive it.
