Diff Lock help

    I just bought a 4x4 TRD 09... I am a total newbie when it comes to 4x4. I just hit some dirt, and the Diff Lock only engages in 4L, and there are stickers all over the door that basically say, keep it under 5mph (ha!). It is because of how much it tears up the ground?

    Can someone with some 4L & Diff lock experience tell me more?

    No, it says you can only engage the locker under 5mph. After that you can go as fast as 4Lo will let you. Or if you do the mod, as fast as 2Hi or 4Hi will let you.

    Technically you can have the locker engaged while driving faster than 5 MPH, but you should only do so when driving on extremely soft surfaces i.e. sand, mud.

    LOL, Most people are more concerned about messing up their power train than they are about the ground. :laugh:

    Well, it's a Toyota Tacoma... I just figured the ground was the most likely thing to break. Grass, Mud, and Sand here.. no rocks

    Going from a Pre-Runner to a 4x4, there seems to be a pretty big difference in the way it drives/handles. 4H is so freaking easy to switch into and out of, WOW. Looks like I have been missing out on another level for some time now. :)

    Yeah, just don't go using your 4x4 or locker on pavement or anything. Though Toyota is built tough, they're not indestructible.
