I have a 2016 Limited Double Cab s/bed 4x4. What kind of difference can I expect if I upgrade to the 5100s? As I understand it from other posts, my truck has the same suspension setup as the SR5. It's not bad now, I just see thru these posts that a lot of people are making this upgrade. Surely there must be a reason....DSCN1604.jpg

Quick hit, I have the 16 TRDOR which comes with a bilstein tuned suspension, one model lower I believe than the the 5100's. My ride is smooth albeit the body is not leveled. I think what I have seen is the 5100's will level out your ride in the front and possibly give a better ride, Couple that with a lift, AAL and UCA,s you will have most of what you will ever want for offroad.....well for at least another 3 months. Depending how radicle you want to be. There are some good posts on this already if you feel like crunching them...

I'm new to this so help me out. What does AAL and UCA stand for. And I
m really not looking to offroad the truck. And I don't really notice it as sitting nose-down. I would not mind if it sat up just a tad higher all around though. I've heard the shocks at the 1.75 setting on the front and at the .85 in the rear would look good though. I notice now on rural roads over a washboard type surface it seems pretty stiff. Wondering if the 5100s will help that?

    Hi Jim,

most folks upgrade the shocks because the front 5100s allows ride height adjustment. The rear shocks do not have this ability. To raise the rear, you can either get blocks, or new leaf springs.

To be perfectly honest -- by your questions and post. Just leave the stock suspension alone.

Everyone will have their opinion on this but for me-5100s front and 5160s in rear made my truck (DBL Cab LB) ride seem more damped with less bounce. Also less body roll.
Compared to stock I would say a smoother ride over all. Very happy with the purchase and will do again for my 3rd gen soon. I bought them for front lift but ended up having a better driving truck.
Not happy with the finishing on the 5160s but I'll coat them this time around if I decide to go with them instead of Foxs

Thanks for all the input folks. Still wondering what AAL and UCA stand for?
