Alright I've been searching Craigslist high and low for a motor for my truck. Finally I find a guy close to me who has a 2.7. My truck is a 1997 and his is a 2001. I know some have 4 and 8 port intakes, but are there any other major differences in the two? Would I be able to use the short block from this truck (or even the long block?). The guy claims it has only 12k on the motor and says he can verify that, however he can't start it due to an electrical concern. He is only asking 800! Any advice?

Yeah I haven't quite figured out what or how I'm going to offer if I do. He said the wiring harness is messed up and it won't start because of this. And technically the motor is used, but everything I have found is usually in the $1500-2000 range and either has high miles or is a rebuild. I could get a brand new short block for 2k. If this deal is as nice as it sounds then that's a steal. He told me he bought the whole truck because he flipped his 2003 and needed a door and some other parts, and he said I could pull the valve cover to get somewhat of an idea of how it was taken care of/actual miles.

X2 a 2001 with 12K and just an electrical problem sounds good to be true

He said the parts truck was hit from the side and he bought the whole truck. I think I might still take a look even though I told him I wasn't interested yesterday. Mike from LCE told me the motor should work fine.
