That's not an update. That's an accessory add on.
I never use the sliding window in my Tundra. Don't miss it at all in the Taco.

Never heard of any TSS issues. Some people prefer not to have “nanny electronics”, but I don’t think there are issues with it. My 2018 has never had any issues with TSS.

Right for someone that doesn't use it then it definitely wouldn't be a big deal, I personally like it in my truck and use it frequently and would not want to climb in and out of the back seat.

Break down and also that tech will change drastically every year from now. Better hardware, algorithms, etc.

Why do you use it ? When I had it on another truck years ago all crap would blow in from the back sometimes. No thanks.

With the sunroof and back window open you get nice airflow, also is nice to have open on its own when the temp is not warm enough for the AC.

I must be abnormal. I have a sunroof in my car and I have used it probably 2 times in 10 years.
Only time I open it is to clean the crap out of the drain tubes so it doesn't back up and flood. Probably wouldn't get it on another vehicle.

I didn't think I would like it very much but ended up loving it, I try to open it whenever I can, kinda nice to even slide the sunshade back in the winter too.

Pre 2018 you can avoid the retarded TSS and a beeping sound everytime a squirrel darts in front of you....

To clarify about TSS for 2018+ trucks. Most are upset because swapping to PRO Grille is more difficult.

I didn't swap my grille, I lifted my truck 2.5 inches, and all systems work great. Truck beeps when a jackass in front of me is braking out of nowhere. Also get cruise control that follows the car in front of you.
    It is nice to have.

If you want the upgraded safety (TSS) but don't want to buy new, just buy a 2018.

I installed a trd pro grille on mine and my tss sensor works but it randomly starts beeping and telling me to brake even when I'm on an empty road, it sometimes even applies the brakes for no reason due to the tss functions (I have the sensitivity set to the lowest setting). I might upgrade to the 2020 trd sport/OR grille so I don't have to deal w/ it

If you have my same grille, have you thought about going back to the stock grille?

I never liked the stock grille tbh, the 2020 stock grills look a lot nicer. I still have my stock 2019 grille just in case I need to put it back on

They probably slide right in. I'm curious if someone has tried.

My Tss has never gone off (knock on wood) except when traffic made a sudden stop in front of me and I had to slam on the brake. I do use the Smith system when driving (keep a decent following distance, etc)

I wasn’t in the market for a Tacoma, but when I started to do some research i found they hold their value so well that buying relatively used (within 5 years) doesn’t save a bunch of money, especially if you are financing. Over the long run the new ones seem to be the way to go, one reason I moved to Toyota from Chevy.

The less electronics the better imo. I got a 17 with 30k miles for $26k and that was at the very top of my budget. If you don't mind all the electronic bs then go for an 18+. I just didn't want to deal with breaking sensors and control modules in 5-10 years. 2017 to me is the sweet spot for the third gens. Has all the nice updates that the 16s lacked but doesn't have the safety bs.

All these people complaining about TSS and I've never had an issue. Period.

Love BSM for backing out of my driveway. Love adaptive cruise control. Adaptive cruise control is everything I ever wished crusie control would be.

I love how everyone thinks the TSS adds a ton of unnecessary electronics. These trucks are rolling computers. A few extra sensors doesn't change that. I'll take auto brights and ACC every day on the off chance it has an issue a decade from now.
