I like how there's barely an explanation of the differences in years.

    Edit*
    17 first power rear window
18 is when they first has the safety stuff i think. Also has bed lights.
19 jbl audio premium? IDK what's new in 19
20 is when they added car play, power seats, led lights?

not really familiar with 16 and 17. theres always the trim options too.

the sales guy told me the biggest differences between trims are suspension, wheels, and tires, at least for the 19s.

someone smarter than me would have to say what mechanically changed between the 3rd gens, but seems no one knows?

seems people dont like the packages they got. adaptive cruise control (i think is amazing), blind spot monitoring (love i dont need those round mirror things and it flashes at me if theres a car there and i turn my blinker on), back up sensors (only really annoying when i have bikes in my bed). The rear power window is why i didn't get a 19 SR tbh. power rear window with window covers are great. the lack of a rear window defroster is sorta made up with the power window. ive had 3 instances since i got the truck a few months ago i had to open it to see through since it was iced over.

the whole transmission gear hunting thing should be solved with a software update i thought. everyone has their preference about shifting though. the ACC does seem to downshift and use super high rpm to get back to speed which im not really a fan of, but its normally great.

Agreed. I love my 2017. Just enough tech without any BS gimmicky stuff that's gonna break in a few years.

Every year of every make , model etc has its own problems. I believe we are super critical on our yota's.

I didn't even know what TSS was when a jerk pulled out in front of me but my 19 Taco stopped its self instead of t-boning an idiot.I

I vote for buying new in this case-
Better interest rate = lower payment
Better insurance rates = lower insurance payment
Longer term than used= lower payment
Better value based on price of used tacoma.

But to each is own and every situation is different.

If your budget only allows for a used Taco, get that. If it's about trying to save money, do the math as others have pointed out interest rates, etc. In the end, get what's best for you.

When I was shopping around, first, I was looking as used. I ended up buying a new SR because I didn't want to pay for options I was never going to use. Also, I saw the SR as a blank canvas for me to draw as I wanted.
