Re pricing new vs. used. I have been actively shopping/pricing tacos the last couple weeks. My kid (30 yrs old) now has the 19 SR pictured in my avatar. I am looking at V6 4wd access cab. I found a 18 sport w under 10 k miles, the lowest they would go is 30 k. I know cause I offered them 29 and they let me walk, not even a counter. I can get a new 2020 SR for about a thousand less. 28.8 or so same configuration v6 4wd access. Not in a hurry so will see what else comes along but most likely will go with new at this point.

New, some issues from earlier models have been ironed out like leaking 3rd brake light, or breaking blower motor, etc.

Funny, my 2016 TRD OR DCSB has had zero issues in 70K miles except for two TSB items and one recall (CPS). No leaks, shudders, etc. But I’m thinking of switching to an LB, and with local used prices think there’s value in going new. So I’m worried about having more chance of problems with a 2020 based on all the complaints I see here at TW. So my vote is 2016 is best. All I’d like different is CarPlay and a power rear window. And a good CPS, combo meter, and properly programmed trans/throttle map right off the showroom floor. Oh, no Tacoma kazoo please.

I’ve got a 2017 and have been very happy with it. Several friends of mine bought in 2016 and had to deal with several TSBs and other more significant issues *knocks wood* that I thankfully haven’t incurred.

The TSS features in theory are cool but from what I’ve heard they don’t work as well as they do on say the Corolla, Camry, Rav4, so I’m glad I didn’t get any of those gizmos.

It would be nice if Toyota had included Car Play and a power adjustable seat(s) in 2017 (the tech was there), because Entune is just a piece of crap. However I didn’t buy a truck so I could get the latest and greatest entertainment technology so I try not to complain.

Regardless, I’ve owned the truck for 4 years now, thankfully have not had any issues, and it has never let me down on any of my trips. If anyone is going for a 3rd Gen, I’d look for a 2017.

Don't know anything about older gen3 tacoma's being my first one is a 2020. So far can't ask for a better mid size truck.

Are they any good on the Tacoma? My dads friend has a 2016 Ram 2500 and while it’s a neat idea, the damn lights go back down to low beam when the light reflects off of road signs.

It’s activation time is also fairly lackluster, often after going around a corner the lights won’t switch for a few seconds. Perhaps not long but far longer than I would want someone’s highs shining in my eye balls.

I have a 2018 and actually never really had much issue with my front sensor. In heavy snow I get the "clean sensor" error, but if there is heavy snow im probably not going to use the features that use the sensor anyhow.

Carplay and android auto should 100% of been included on this truck when it came out.

My auto high beams kinda sucks, they pick up road signs as other cars headlights and turn off.

:jerkoff:The only time I've ever heard it beep when it "didn't need to" was when I was approaching a car a little fast that would be out of my lane by the time I got there.

Its not any better on the 2020 as far as these sensors. Even mine gets wonky in snow squalls or storms.

I actually picked up a universal windshield washer pump/tank after my first winter with the truck, I was going to install a spray jet to spray at the sensor cover in the winter to clear the snow off. But it happens so little that it doesnt bother me. Instead, I am using that pump/tank for headlight washers.

I know I'm a 2nd gen .. but I ran across same thing looking when I bought my tacoma. I had a 2010 used and traded it in on a new 2015. The price break they were giving for new vs used was crazy. I would have to get a 2011 with 100k for the same price as a new tacoma with all the discounts.. my tacoma I have now I bought new and honestly haven't regretted it (other than watching the miles go from 1mi to 53k now)

I know in 19' the bigger dash screen became standard in all models.

Having had a 16, SR I liked it for the fuel mileage, , transmission had problems with all tsb's Installed. It was a qt+ low when I got it for the first 2000 miles were driven at temp's below -5 to -20. If it was not for TW I would have never had it checked. The 19 SR seemed better, had a couple things that I didn't like. I never got more than 16 mpg, transmission was quirky, better after fuel pump recall and a new tsb install. But it had so many noises and rattles they herd but couldn't find.i didn't mind the tss. Never used the lane departure, it was the most annoying thing. Now I have the 21 and it's like night and day, good mileage quiet, transmission works better. Still not using lane departure, auto dim. Love the power seat. Plan on keeping this one until I or it expires.

If you want a good deal I would go with a 2018 model now that we are in 2021. I got my 2017 Tacoma in March 2020 at a awesome price. My taco was previously a new leased vehicle so you prob will see a lot of expiring 2018 leased models and next year it will be 2019’s and so on with 3 year leases...

I've trade my tacoma for a 2020 4runner off-road, the transmission is day and night compare with the 3rd gen tacoma
