I have a 2006 Access Cab PreRunner Sr5 but it is not the TRD package. I know one significant difference between the two is that the TRD models have a locker and different suspension. Is there anyone out there that could tell me more key differences in the two vehicles? Is the PreRunner SR5 still capable in off road situations?

A prerunner is a 2wd and has a rear diff locker. Not 4wd.it's pretty capable in must situations however, I wouldn't get TOO hard core in it bc it's not 4wd.

Capability is largely determined by experience IMO. However, your truck will not be able to go everywhere a 4WD can go.

Only the PreRunner TRD OR model has the rear locker.

OP the other key differences are the interior is different between the SR5 and TRD (seats etc..), different suspension, and I don't believe the SR5 has the tow package where the TRD OR does. There are other differences too I am sure, I just can't think of them.

Nope, just the TRD Off Road models. You can always add aftermarket if you wanted though.

I figured you could add an aftermarket diff locker but you would go through alot of trouble to do so.

just out of curiosity, how much did you spend on your locker? Did you install by yourself?

if you have an 09+ trd off road 4x4 you get the much better electric boosted master cylinder capable of 2x the line pressures over the vacuum assisted master cylinder.
