Does nothing to keep dust off of the glasses. Also these clips tend to work OK with cheap sunglasses that have plastic lenses. Prescription sunglass lenses tend to be heavier depending on the prescription.

I'm guessing the technical differences have been well covered by this point.

I like to sum it up as follows:

One looks awesome and has more stock capability if you ever go off road. The other has a skirt and a cute little pocket for your sunglasses. :D

When you wear glasses dust gets on them.

There is no way you can say the OR looks better than the Sport. Even if you think the scoop is in the way when you drive (BULLSHIT), it looks better when you look at the two trucks.

And hey glad to read I drive something with a skirt a couple times a day, whats that say about what you drive?

Yes the OR is more stock capable IF you OFF ROAD. And the pocket may be for sunglasses, but it can hold other things as well.

spoken like someone who doesn't actually wear glasses. how about this... you keep putting your glasses in your crappy glasses clip and i'll use my cool, slow-opening sunglasses holder.

i mean....number of times i'd use crawl control in a year would be like... once or twice. and then the novelty is gone. i use the glasses holder almost every time i drive.

So you're really just jealous of those who paid more and got more capability in crawl control and trying to justify and self-validate by proclaiming that you get more use out of a plastic cubby that holds your glasses and allows them to bounce around.

I never would have thought someone would choose a sunglasses holder over something like crawl control lol. But hey, to each their own i guess.

    I agree.

There's also this mentality that if the Sport hits the dirt, it will automatically take a shit.

I actually take it off road through ditches a mile off the road to visit a friend at least once a month.

He lives up some hills. I have never gotten stuck or had my wheels slip even when its muddy.

In my opinion, there's a ton of things that a 2WD Sport Tacoma can actually do. Just ditch the shitty stock tires from either Sport or OR and you'd be surprised what 2WD can do.

Here's a video of snow VS tire type. Let me know if its absolutely necessary that you need 4x4 every day of your life. (There will only be a few that can justify)

i wouldve never guess so many self proclaimed off road enthusiasts would care so much about crawl control. its like low speed cruise control for beginners. and everyone "serious" about offroad wants all the control they can get so they buy the proper 3 pedal truck which doesnt have crawl. not to mention a scratched fender flare is a lot easier to buff out when painted. in the OR you get to hit it with the heat gun, melt it and replace it. everyone is so silly here. just go get the truck you want and do with it what you want. id bet less than 1% of people have been to the limits of their vehicles. ill see you all on the trails running my stock firestone destination le2 at 32 psi:anonymous:. just dont ask for help out there because my skewp took away all off road capability and i shouldnt even be there to begin with!

    (1) Most people don't go on the lot and say "I know I have some good options here, but give me that nasty looking one over there anyway." It is all personal preference. The marketing people know what they are doing. I remember the brochure photos of the blue sport playing on the sand dunes did nothing for me. However, the photos of the Quicksand OR climbing around and pulling a trailer up a gravel road was like truck porn (in my twisted brain). Anyway, I may be the only one on earth... but I like the look of the OR better (stock-vs-stock). Regarding the scoop, after test-driving the 3.5L it just seemed terribly ironic (at that time they were programmed to have no response to the throttle).

    (2) Sorry you're a touch sensitive about the skirt thing. As for what it means for me, I believe mine is "skirt-less" or "without skirt." I guess it's naked.

On the plus side, at least we both agree that manual transmissions are more fun.

Another difference I noticed between the Sports and Off Road Tacomas are the extra skid plates. The OR has an additional skid plate that extends past the front skid plate (that the Sports has) and the additional fuel tank skid plate.

Yeah that's it... I have an sr5 so I saved a few grand over either trd model. Is capability that you'll never use really money wisely spent?

yanno, toyota could have made that gaudy knob for crawl control a lot smaller or placed it elsewhere and this wouldn't even be a "debate".

That "gaudy knob for crawl control" has more uses than you think. When mall-crawling the kids like to use it as an awesomeness dial... right now it is dialed up to maximum awesomeness. :D

whoever put that there is the same dipshit that put the 4x4 knob directly next to the hvac controls that i like to turn without looking. that specific knob has a slightly different feel, but i suspect that one day someone will turn that thing while flying down the interstate.

That is actually a real problem. It was probably the same guy who likes to adjust volume left and right (instead of up and down).

I will throw some gas on the fire. If you only bought the truck to go offroad... then you bought the wrong vehicle. You should have purchased a full size tundra to tow your Hilux with a solid front axle, locked front and rear on 35's etc etc :D :D

Real wheeling is not done with a DD (and if you want to argue that... I would say a JK Rubicon would have been a better choice)

I don't believe anything bad will actually happen if you do grab the wrong dial and twist. At most it'll shift into 4HI, may be not great for the transfer case but by no means will it explode. It won't go into 4LOW or even try unless you are stopped and in neutral.

Tested that theory the other day. It won't shift into 4HI above 65 mph. Just flashes.

True but what if the wife is driving and doesn't notice the little light. Bind city. "Honey, the truck is making funny noises..."
