Well; what took the longest about this mod for me was sourcing all the parts in my garage because I knew I had what I needed. (I couldn't wait til Friday for the parts)
Then I had to go get me a 3 1/4" hole saw in town. Had to remove my K&N CAI. I did use a 3/4" piece of air hose to place on the cut. I also used a 45-degree elbow and sliced it at an angle as to act as an umbrella to repel water. (as a just-in- -case sort-of deal.
Used exhaust wrap; as you can see, and threw in my other K&N filter. All that's left is to cover the factory hole on the fender, and it's a wrap..
Thanks to all for good input and ideas. Easy mod to do and I can't til next thunder storm......
My Bros of the Taco, Thanks!!!

at least 5 years in, I still haven't bothered to cover the factory hole in the side. Nobody who looks under my hood cares that it's there and without the underside being closed out the extra path for dust to get in doesn't really matter.

my parts came in and I went this route instead... A lil more pliable and a bit cooler air. Probably because the wrap job on the other one was trapping heat?? Anyway, finished, satisfied, and almost done with 2nd battery set up in that very empty space..

yeah it's nice seeing all that space open up. I haven't figured what to do with it yet but it's nice knowing I have the room.

I've been wanting to do this for a while but glad I waited. I think your configuration is the best one I've seen so far. Very curious to know more details.
^^^THIS, @Dvst8r1K please share your parts list if you can. Or Also can you show / describe what you did for the firewall area? Did you use a bulb seal or just edge trim?

After years of "I probably should do this" I finaly did it!

Came across this 3.5L Ecoboost Cold Air Intake system from a buy back( all buy backs have to go back to 100% stock before resale). I offered it to anyone who wanted it in the LongTravel Thread a few months back, but nobody was too interested.
And just about when I was going to scrap it, I said I bet I can make this work on my own junk

So here it is.. took the longer tube and elbows for myself and scraped the rest of it
    20241020_185947.jpg

Removed the Logo from the discarded tube..
    20241020_181806.jpg

And installed it on the good tube, a good ol' 10 dollar harbor frieght rivet maker was the most appropriate tool for the job. The Logo is money..

Cut to kinda the appropriate length, plugged up a small hole, ground off some excess material and its like it was made for my junk straight from a factory..
