Mines mismatched silvers, got the 1d6 silver sky metallic on the truck and the toppers the lighter silver one from the 05-12. I’m not 100% on those paint codes
I got it for $600 right before moving so it was a good deal and i wasn’t in a place to be picky, was planning on selling it when i got to Colorado, but decided to keep it, it’s great having dry storage back there and the extra weight is great for the snow.
Mine is really only noticeable in direct sunlight, otherwise when it’s a little dirty it’s barely noticeable.

plus i did some color editing with this photo so it kinda hides it too

I really like the idea of the bedliner or doing a wrap, I’ve always wanted to learn to do that, and figure if it’s not perfect who cares.

 

And your opinion, although different from mine, is A-OK with me fella.

When my truck was stock I had to have a color matched cap. Once I started modifying it with black bumpers, sliders and roof rack, I didn’t mind having a black cap. I’m glad the ARE DCU came in either white or black as a factory option.

 

I’d rather run with a nice mis matched shell for 6-12 months that cost a 1/3 or less of a new one and save to have it painted or paint it yourself than to spend $2k on a new one.

 

Always had mis-matched colours, and have been fine with them. I really liked the silver Leer cap as it went with the silver rims and chrome. (If I had colour matched bumpers and what not I would probably prefer the same with the cap but oh well!)

 

My 2015 is SSM with a dark blue top. I think the color combo works great for the time being

 

I got a red cap for my black taco. I ended up wrapping the cap with black vinyl this past summer. Was a PITA and tricky. It came out ok. I didn't do a great job, and actually ruined the factory paint on it in the process (I decided to remove and redo a large piece the day after and it took the clear coat with it!).

My plan all along was to eventually paint it, so this really just bought me some time until I can get it done or be in a place where I could do it myself.

 

My kid's Taco, Sierra Beige Mica with Imperial Jade Mica ARE topper. I think it looks better than a color match.

 

I find that I can't stop myself from staring at it
