This is something I haven’t heard anyone else discuss nor could I find it in the owners manual…..

I have a 24 Pro with HUD. Every time I start the engine, a different layout in the HUD appears for about five seconds then it returns to its normal layout.

When I first start it, an actual curved speedometer gauge that contains different colors appears in the HUD briefly. Then it reverts to the standard layout.

My question is this….are there different HUD layouts available? Maybe different looking speedometer gauges like the one that briefly appears when I start the engine????

Maybe it’s the HUD maker Easter egg or logo.

I don't think so....it is actually a very nice speedometer display in color that pops up for about five seconds and then reverts back to the normal HUD display.

Yes, in the settings you can choose from I believe 3 different HUD types, car has to be in park in order to change the settings.

welcome! i dont remember the EXACT steps, but im pretty sure you just go into settings from the steering wheel and then scroll all the way down and it should have the heads up display settings.

Bad news! I tried placing my 24 Pro in park and switching the HUD layout but the speedo layout I see in my HUD when I first start it is not an option in settings. There are three options but the layout I am seeing is not one of them nor is anything even close. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Here is a photo of the HUD display that comes on for about five seconds every time I start the truck. It then reverts back to my normal display after the five seconds.

As you can see this display consists of a speedometer which is not a choice in the HUD settings.

Any idea where this display is at?

Note: the colors in the display are much brighter and more colorful in real life. This was the best quality photo I could make.

Has anyone else noticed this speedometer display in your HUD when you first start your truck? Lasts about five seconds.

Yes, but like most things, he had no clue nor did any of those he worked with. The mystery continues….

Late to this but just noticed mine has been doing the same thing. Even played around with the carista obd to see if there was a way to unlock this feature but nothing. Doesnt seem to change with the minimal, standard, etc HUD settings either.

I've noticed it as well and found it curious. One could try to backtrack versions of Toyota HUD displays and see if one uses that setup. From there, best guess would be they borrowed the code as a starting place and didn't catch a preliminary process or call routine. So you get the 'easter egg' of a code defect before the intended layout takes over. Just a hypothesis.

I think the colorful speedo you are seeing is actually the tachometer.
