    I found this - not on this site, oddly - and tried it. I had repaired the resisitor before, and it died again, as is so common apparently.

    This fix worked - and I hope it stays that way! I used five resistors with a total resistance in parallel of about 54 ohms - I did not have 3 X 150 ohm resistors on hand, so made do with what I could find in the drawer.

    Thank you Mike Davis. (he did not have an email link on his site that I could find, but I would like to let him know I appreciated his efforts...)

    OK - I tried this and it worked well, it seemed. One full day later and it is not working again. I have to check my solder joints, I guess...but my final resistance was 54 ohms, so a bit out of spec.
