Differential and transfer case fluids ?

Also a big fan of amsoil Severe gear fluid in the bags!

 

I use good ole manual transmission fluid (80W-90 GL4) in the t-case. Shifts like a dream and far less clunky than it was with the expensive stock stuff. ONLY using the stock stuff for the t-case is not necessary.

85W-140 GL5/6 in the diffs for mine.

 

Would you guys go 75w 85 or

75w 90 the 90 seems cheaper and more readily available. Over the 85 stuff .

 

Going to revisit this shortly for changing of my fluids

Not that it's the right answer, but the 75W-85 is almost impossible to find, unless you use the ridiculously priced Toyota stuff. Almost everyone swears by the simple and cheap valvoline squeeze bags in

75W-90 (Or Redline, Amsoil, etc...if price makes you believe it's better). Even "The Car Care Nut" says to avoid the Toyota stuff because of how expensive it is. The key is to change the fluid on time or earlier than recommended depending how you use the Taco. Brand makes no difference as long as it's quality stuff.

Wow we got folks here using Redline. I've been using Redline since 1995. Great stuff, my current old 2003 beater pick up truck (not my Tacoma) has over 330,000 miles on it all with Redline fluids in engine, trans, both front/rear diffs, and transfer case. The motor is all original never been apart or out, same as the Trans. never been apart or out of the truck. The rear diff I did swap out for new locker. Other than that it's been great stuff.
