Just a quick question, might be dumb but does it have to be a fuel Line or just any type?

the diff gets pretty warm, the air will be pretty warm, add the fact that it will be under the truck for a long period of time and will be getting hit by rocks, mud, and what not, You're going to want a pretty sturdy tubing. I wouldn't cheap out on it. Just spend the extra couple bucks and get the good hose.

Did this mod today on my 2011 4x4 4cyl manual transmission. While I was under the truck i looked for the transmission breather and found a one way breather, like the rear diff had, on top of the transmission next to the shifter on the engine side. It's tucked right up in there couldn't see it, might be able to get a picture.

I gave it a thorough groping, and couldn't feel anything for a wrench to turn it. Seems like it's pressed in. Couldn't find the transfer case breather? Was wondering if anyone with a four cylinder 4x4 manual could give any insight? I'll try to get some pictures.

Here are some pictures. Really hard to get good ones. Had to stuff my welding mirror up there. The first picture got my finger on it you can't see the breather, but it gives a better idea of where it is. The next few show the little cap on it. It moves up and down like the old rear diff breather, and I'm pretty sure it's pressed in.

Anybody have a how-to on getting to the top of transmission from where the shifter comes down in? Be able to get some better pictures this way maybe.

Here is the second picture again.

Thanks for putting in time with all the pics! The parts numbers worked out perfectly too. Had to oil up that Camry union to get the gas line on it. other than that it was a breeze. I'm new to this site and this was my first mod. now I've just got the itch to do more!

Thanks for the info. I saw one of the pics in the thread refer to these two breathers as the front dif and ADD. I could not figure out what ADD was.

I just did the breather mod but added my own spin to it.
The company I work for allows me access to all sorts of cool stuff, I could have gone the easy route using the Toyota OEM parts #90404-51026 Camry union and 90930-03136 breather union but decided to try a different approach.
From my work I bought a 1/8" BSPT 1/4" brass hose barb (not pictured), this threads into the rear differential, this is the same thread pitch as the Toyota OEM breather. I also picked up a brass bulk head fitting, 90 degree elbow and a breather vent.

bulk head fitting, vent and 90 deg elbow, I had already installed the BSPT hose adapter when I decided to take the picture.

I decided on the large cubby for the mounting location, I drilled a 3/4" hole and installed the bulk head fitting, vent and elbow.

I installed the hose and ran along the top of the frame leaving enough slack for rear end travel. I like how clean it looks.

I also picked up some slotted t-nuts a couple of vinyl coated J hooks and mounted my shovel.

I used Velcro straps to hold the shovel in place.

    Parts list from McMaster-Carr Supply.

    For the breather mod
    1075T71 BSPT hose barb
    5454k86 bulk head fitting
    53525k11 90 degree elbow
    9833k21 vent
    5288k114 hose

    For the shovel mount
    90526a592 slotted t-nuts
    1730a91 J hook
92323a551 3/8-16 serrated flange cap screws.

I did this mod this morning. Thank you vy much for the write up and the pics.

I bought 6 foot of the 1/4 inch fuel tube, and probably cut about 6 inches off. I zip tied what I could while still having room to move.

The stupid union fitting and breather cost $20+ at the dealer

Oh well, if it will keep water out of my diff.... Totally worth it :D
