    I have my step son's 2000 Toyota 4runner
It's got a 3.5" suspension lift and a 1.5" body lift. The suspension lift is a basic king 2.5 coilover with reservoirs and 650# springs up front. It also has Solo Motorsport lower control arms and camburg(?) Upper control arms. It has total chaos spindle gussets, cam tabs and a coilover top mount reinforcement plate. It also has cam lock plates which makes it so the alignment doesn't really move.
It has King 2.0 smooth body shocks with reservoirs and clickers (adjusters) in the rear and whatever springs you put in it. Prob 400#? Maybe more idk.
Im from SD Cali and road tripped it cross country. Currently in Warren PA when differential blew. Shit show of mechanics and availability of parts around here. Shoved shit back in and pulled bearings just to be able to get around. Could go back to OEM parts but have 35' tires and would have to drop the lift and change tires. Someone please help me. I don't know shit about fixing cars or what I'm even saying.......

If your diff blew, why would you need to change tires and ect? Just get a junkyard diff, slap it in, and be on your way.

Go to a shop, remove the diff gears and the rear driveshaft. Put the empty carrier back in and fill up the diff fluid. Drive home in 4H (i.e. front wheel drive) and fix it when you get back home.

Parts availability for 3rd gen 4Runners has been a problem for some time. The only folks I know who go off road with them are mechanics, and each has a parts vehicle in the back yard...

Drive home 3000 miles in 4H. But the 4 wheel drive won't work if I pull the differential....... Those gears won't be there to dive in........ Idk. That's what the mechanic said.... When I first took it to the mechanic he said he'd have problems locating the part, so they pulled the bearings and shoved everything back together so that at least I could drive it paved road slow mileage but get back and forth. So I believe he's already done that. You really think I could drive 3000 Miles like that?

Call East Coast Gear Supply and see if they can overnight a diff to your location.

As others said you could drive home in 4H, it's just gonna be slow going. Do you have friends or family in the area that you're staying with?
If no to both, get a rental that can tow, go to uhual and get a small tow trailer and get home. If that's too expensive just find the closest scrap yard and sell it and fly home?

This is the rear diff that blew? What your mechanic said makes no sense. Put it in 4H. If there's a "lock" button or switch, engage it. Since the rear driveline is missing, there will be no binding. You can drive this way (FWD) indefinitely if you choose to. This is how folks who banana their driveshaft on the trail get home.

It’s sketchy ass driving, but it’s doable when cautious

It'll be like the millions of FWD crossovers on the road. A bit of torque steer from the longer RH torque shaft attached to the front diff but otherwise manageable.

More sketchy if the rear diff locks up because he kept the gears in  That'll send the vehicle straight to a median.

No family or anything out here. Just wanted to go on a Trip. Made it from SD to Warren PA before this happened. You guys are awesome. All of your responses are great. Thank you so much for the help. Got to figure it out now and I'll keep you guys posted* I'll get more info from the mechanic as well.

I guess it’s just my truck that’s sketchy then. I only had a 20 mile drive. I damn sure wouldn’t want to do it across the country

20 miles and what? Sounds like you got a shitty deal on that one .... What happens and what did you do to fix it?*
And yeah, there's a guy In Warren P.A. where I've been stuck and he's gonna rebuild it. Says it's gonna be about two days and cost around a grand, maybe a bit more... Any more thoughts about that? Wort that much. How's a rebuild work? And are my lockers shoot or wtf?*

Okay. So $1300 for the rebuild and $400 for the front CVR axel replacements. Said drive 45 minutes wait 20, check the gear oil level. So the same thing again...... Done driving about 200 miles and stopping for the night..... Question is, is he rebuilt the ring pin and put new spacers in, and then the CVR axels we're replaced, all new shit all up front....... Am I good? I'll pay pictures of the broken parts.....
I guess what I'm asking is, if they rebuilt it the exact same way at a great ratio of 4.88, so I have 4 wheel again, and what about my lockers??
Please remember, I'm driving my step son's car. He is incarcerated and I decided to take it on a road trip. I don't need anyone telling me how this is not a road trip vehicle Thanks guys
