Hey guys im new to the forum and i just purchased a 2011 tacoma prerunner double cab long bed. I would like to change the resr differential oil because i dont have record of it being changed by previos owner. Truck has 115,000 miles right now. What oil would you guys recommend and shiuld i go synthetic or regular due to miles. Also how can i tell if truck has LSD.

only 05-08's came with the mechanical LSD that REQUIRED the LSD additive be present in the oil in trucks equipped with the LSD diff.... 09+ was all simulated via brakes.

That stated LSD oil in a diff that doesnt require it wont hurt it. I run mobile 1 full syn 75w-90 in my truck (just did front diff, tcase, and rear diff with it) it comes with LSD additive but is not deeded in my truck.

FYI cheapest place i could find was online on pepboys ebay store.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mobil-1-Syn...107943&hash=item2598b47b1b:g:jDIAAOSwPc9W1~ce

if you buy at least 4 (which you probably should as the rear diff holds a smidge more than 3) you get free shipping.

Awesome thanks for all the info. Is it safe to use synthetic on my truck? I have no idea what is on it right now

If you don't have the new crush washers, use some Teflon tape. I do and it works fine.
