Differential Swap with 4 Runner is it possible?

I am not sure if this will work but i have done minimal research and saw that some people have successfully swapped their tacoma differential (rear) with a 4 runner differential.

Why you ask would i want to do this? Good question! The 4 Runner rear differential i am looking at is for a 1995 4 runner and it has 4.10 gear ratio, something I need and cannot find for a 5-lug tacoma (2007 model). Apparently they dont make 4.10 gears for them, 4-wheel parts told me it would be easier to just get a 3rd member with the gears already in it and to just swap them out then to buy the gears, have them remove and then install the rebuilt gears back into the truck, plus it will be much cheaper! $$$ The only option they could offer me is 4.56 gears and im on 30" tires which would mean high revs = bad gas mileage and engine stress

My question is can it be done, I understand that the gears in the new tacomas are 8.4in and the 4 runner gears are ??? well i dont know. But if they are even 8in or 7.5in could i still use them? Has anyone done this?
