I currently have a 1999 Tacoma 3.4l 4x4 auto trans and from what ive researched it has 3.92 ring and pinion with open carrier. I want to gear it lower maybe 4.10 - 4.56. Not to low tho. Atleast were it will pull my 35 x15.50 tsl xs. Right now I have no power whatsoever which could be another problem somewhere else. I have found a matching number front and rear set but don't know if it's interchangeable. It's out of a 1990 4 runner and has the independant front diff. Will this work in my 99. Thanks guys

No, the rears are definitely not interchangeable with those older trucks. Not sure about the fronts, but not likely. You'll have to get yours re-geared. You'll likely need 4.88 gears to pull 35's.

Just changing gears does not require a different carrier.

ARB and DETROIT lockers replace the stock carrier.
    Lock-rite uses the stock carrier.
