I have seen threads concerning diff venting but most are not recent. I want to relocate the rear diff vent and replace it with an actual breather, not just another one way vent. Any info on an actual part number would be awesome. Is the front diff vent a one way or a true breather? It is strange that Toyota would put different vent on the front than the rear. Also wondering about venting/breather for the transfer case and tranny. Not planning on taking my truck swimming but it appears the rear diff could be contaminated in fairly shallow water. Any advice would be appriciated.

The old threads have the part numbers and instructions you seek.

I used an ARB differential breather, both front and rear. It has the hardware required to replace the connection at the diff end, and has enough hose to route it up and away. I brought it to the rear, behind the left side rear tail lamp.

Another suggestion - the transfer case and, in my case, manual transmission vents terminate quite low in the engine bay. I bought some plastic fitting kits at Autozone and used them to hook both of them to one hose with a Y connector and then to the same diff vent. Front diff and transfer case and manual transmission all connect to ARB vents in the engine bay high up by the cowling.

I appreciate all the info and links. I have yet to find where the transfer case and Transmission (auto) vents terminate. I think I have the rear diff vent figured out. Thanks for all the info provided.

    Found this....

Two vent lines on the inner fender by the fuse box are, Big = front diff breather, small = front diff actuator.

Transfer case actuator vent line like stated, vents into the case of the transfer case. The transfer case has one breather tube that runs along the top of the transmission and ends at the base of the bell housing.

The transmission (auto or manual) has a vent line that runs along the top of the transmission up the bell housing about 3/4 the way up
